Yep, thats why a paused bench is easier, resting with a dead stop on the chest makes the press so much easier lol

To eradicate attempts like the one just posted, simply make everyone pause in a dead hang, so much easier to judge as well

third attempt...

I don't mean to be a pill...but no kipping and straighten those arms! If you put your legs behind you like rev and I did, you will find it easier to avoid naturally kipping in the last reps. I actually preferred your earlier attempts to this one haha sorry :P

Shouldn't complain, at least you're posting vids!

Where are the rest...come on Joey, Trozzle, Husky...

I'm only just recovering from a mean throat infection, so I honestly just don't give a shit to do this just yet lol

Also I'm in a "kill every flamin mongrel that isn't actually lifting" mood right now after walking into my gym, getting changed, discovering that almost EVERY single piece of equipment was being "used" (read: f**kheads occupying it while not actually doing anything productive), and subsequently leaving because I have better things to do with my time than wait around for these stupid pricks. I'll go later...when the f**kwads have left.

Yeah, hahaha.

Earlier attempts were probably better...

I wanted to get past 15 reps Birds!!

As you said tuck your legs behind you... I find that position really hurts my back.

Also, yeah.... where are all the other attempts from people!! FKC!! haha

Very. dream boats like them are pretty much the reason I'm left with ~45 mins every evening to relax before I gotta be in bed...

don't you wish sometimes you could just punch people in the face and it would be okay.

Looks like everyone waits till the last day, maybe a month is too long, a week may be better, everyone trains each lift at least once a week, film it.

Six pages, over 100 posts, how many vids, still 16 days to go

You might be right about the pattern , the deadlift challenge was the same sort of average posts and vids.

I suspect that even if it was a week the same people will still do it. maybe over a month those same people can increase the attempts to better ones.

As you said tuck your legs behind you... I find that position really hurts my back.

Knees tucked behind you is slightly harder , it changes the angle of force and recruits the core slightly more to stabilize. It shouldn't hurt your back mate, that might be something to look at. The pain could be just muscle soreness and possibly a good thing for you. If not then it's would be worth getting that checked out.

Just stick to whatever is most comfortable for you in this challenge.

I do see your point because you could argue that like the bottom of the bench rep, grip muscles are part of stabilizing. But , as this challenge is geared to testing the back , the stretched point of the hang involves your grip fatigue. It does allow the back muscles a rest. Lets just say if you train for hanging off the bar you can build up quite a decent amount of endurance in your grip. In fact that is another exercise. Weighted hangs for time and Static holds, where you hold a partial rep with a load you can't fully rep. I would be doing these now save for the injury.

I just did some more weighted pullups and managed 1 more this way, with a 3-5 second pause. My grip gave out before my back, mostly from pain in my left arm (I may have higher grip endurance than others however). Doing it the challenge way I find the back is failing on the last rep not my grip.

Here's a video of my effort. I'll let you decide on how many I actually 'completed'...

    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
