For future ref ^^

Fantastic thanks, if anyone has any other recommendations let me know so I can pass them on, in case hes not happy with advice from the one above.. thankyou :)

lol @ u being the one to reply.. thanks Graeme!! Its for loss of licence.

He was on one point option then incurred another speeding fine and lost it for 6 months. But because it was excessive speed (40km/over) he has just lost it for another 6 months.. so will now lose his job.. (its my boss's son). From memory of our discussion the other day anyway..

He was done doing 100 through a roundabout near Rye.. apparently speed 'automatically' drops to 60 at a roundabout.. I personally did not know that?? I fly through them regularly.. like most other ppl I noticed..

Also I noticed in Cranny on the weekend that you can see the 100km sign on the other side, from the entry side of every roundabout.. so the whole thing seems stupid...

Anyway they need to try to do something so he doesnt lose it for another 6 months.. hence lawyer to talk about options..

Thanks for any help..

Hey Kaz,

Do you know which roundabout in Rye? Are you saying that it was an unsigned speed change?

I've just looked on the Vicroads site, and couldn't find anything about a speed limit automatically dropping for a roundabout on either the Speed Limits section or the Round Abouts section...

I know that most of Rye does have a 60kmh speed limit though...

He could be in a tricky situation considering his previous offenses...

Best of luck to him.

Must be one of those laws we are all just supposed to know about, like the 100's of other ones no-one is ever taught.

I have never heard of this, other than my dad mentioning it once years ago, that you should slow to 60 for any intersection. I just assumed he was crazy as that would cause more accidents.

Haven't heard of any law like that - however, surely discretionary powers allow a picky officer to get someone on reckless driving if they go through a roundabout too fast.

I looked into MK Law when I got nabbed speeding at 28 over the limit (down at mornington peninsula, when I was on my 12 months probation). Apparently he doesn't take minor cases.

Due to time constraints, I choose not to represent people who contest traffic infringement notices issued to them by police. I concentrate on matters where people have been charged and have either been bailed or summonsed to appear in court.

How'd he get caught? Does he need to appear in court or was he just issued a TIN?

i had to front court recently for a single speeding offence.

i spoke to MK law, however found him to be a little unprofessional, in my opinion not of the character i wanted to represent me in court.

MK quoted $1000 all up to deal with my case.

I ended up seeing Sean Hardy, had a meeting to discuss my case and i was confident in his ability.

SH cost me $1800 however the outcome of which i was very pleased with.

Yep. I went with SH as well and although he didn' represent me he gave me some good advice. recommended.

Sean hardy really well known. I have gone up against him before.

I also have never heard of this law. Stretch of road without sign in built up area iis default to 50 but otherwise is speed limit of last speed sign affixed until sign to change it.

Probably should have charged with speed/manner dangerous but took the lazy/easy option to give TIN, 2 min work compared to 2hrs

That's what I thought. When I went for my P's the instructor told me never to take a round about faster than 50km however the assessor in the back had said that there was no law actually saying that it legally had to be taken at 50 and to take it at a safe controllable speed close to the speed limit.

Have heard good things about Sean Hardy but no personal experience.

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
