Heard my name mentioned.

Just get your gases out as fast as you can AFTER they have been used by the turbo charger....YOU DO NOT WANT BACK PRESSURE HERE PERIOD.

Exhaust manifold design is what governs turbine behavior and that is all you want to affect the turbo...After the turbo, gasses do nothing, they are waste and if you don't get rid of them fast enough they will effect the turbo's performance in a NEGATIVE way....NEVER IN A POSITIVE WAY...NEVER.

MY RECOMMENDATION IS:

Speak to an RB workshop that do this for a living and have done all the R&D on multiple setups to know exactly what you need.

More factors then just the manifold govern the turbine 'behaviour' such as turbo design, PSI, engine design, displacement, cams, Volumetric efficiency and off course witchcraft.

But your theory is no backpressure is the best, so have u tested this on a dyno by running back to back with an exhaust and then without dump pipes to run straight of the turbo like u said?

I'd be interested in the results..

If you really want to learn about RB turbo R&D I would ask these guys before you post anymore garbage.

Or these guys

They have have so much knowledge that it would make you head explode. And it's all based on 20 years of real life R&D.

When they talk you listen because 5mins with them teach you more than the years crap that you think you already know.

After speaking to JEM they've told me they i could go a bigger exhaust but the minimal gains are quite pointless on my setup...

For the 1kplus id be spending for not that much of a gain...

I'll be keeping the current exhaust and ill upload a dyno when i'm finished it all.

Good stuff mate. That's the best way to do it. Everything else healthy?

Yeah man the car is really healthy and im fussy with all my maintenance.

So hopefully she stays healthy haha.

Hoping i can run the 10.99. Ran 11.8 on std turbo n std ecu.

i think its doable but wont be easy.

Awesome mate make sure you post up your time and mph. When are you heading out?

Won't be draging till at least December because november 30th powerplay is on and i've got a garage once again.... Knowing my luck ill break shit before powerplay if i drag hahah.

It will happen though... For now you can check my video of my stock run haha.

I saw that video about 2 weeks ago on youtube, wow such a small world lol that's a fast time 4 stock turbos, how much boost?

16psi stock ecu

that ugly jaggerd dyno run climb.... Tappers off though

Ben, I hope you don't mind me asking on your thread but I want to get advice on my potential exhaust setup:

I have a basically stock RB26 (R33) in my BNR32 with a R32 std mani, turbos, dumps, front pipe, cat, and 2.5" mine's cat-back.

After reading this thread (all bullsheit aside), I'm thinking about upgrading to BNR34 std mani, BNR34 std dumps, 3" Titanium front (short design vs long pipes), ARC Ti 3" de-cat, and Mine's Ti 3" cat back.

My BNR32 is a club racer so Response > WHP. Can I get this ya'll opinion on my setup before I enter my credit numerals into websites?

If you have read the thread carefully you will know that you won't lose any response but on a stock motor you will not see any massive increase in power. But it will stand you in good stead when you do go for more power.

Make it atleast 3.5 inch from the merge of the front pipes back. 3 inch is wrx toy junk!

Lol. In my situation, I'm going for weight saving via exhaust, lighter wheels, rotors, etc. I'm not sure if there's a Ti exhaust that's affordable and 3.5".

My theory about the BNR34 manifold is: If the BNR32 dumps are crap and the BNR34 are better then won't the BNR34 manifold be better than the BNR32 manifold...? is it a waste of money to but a BNR34 manifold?

    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
