I got a quick question for you guys; a friend of mine lost his licence about 2 weeks ago for 6 months. However a couple of nights ago he got busted driving with no licence, and now hes got a court summons coming in the mail. Anyone else been unlucky enough to be in this position or know any1 that has got owned like this? if so what did they get in court?  Just wondering what he'll cop in court cuz he's fkn spewin!

If it's a first offence for driving whilst suspended, the magistrate will probably be lenient and order a fine usually around $250, with a conviction recorded against the drivers record.

If caught driving whilst suspended again, another court appearance, definitely another fine and possibly a jail sentence.

Max penalty in any case is $3000 and/or JAIL.

Imagine having to spend time behind bars just for driving your car.... fcuk that!

Advice: either dont drive whilst suspended, or dont get caught!!!! :D

I think you guys are arguing for no real reason.

I definitely believe we're all on the same size. Unless you are doing something blatantly dangerous (DUI, drifting, dropping donuts in front of cops) losing your license is a bit much.

I know a lot of you guys lose your license is questionable circumstances.

I also really think that to do 130 in a 100 freeway zone is not really a dangerous incident per se - arbitrary limits are just that.

I've been in 110 zones and you know the Skyline can do these things at 180km/h SAFELY.

I don't agree with the laws in NSW let alone Victoria.

But these are the rules we live by.

If NSW and Vic. decided to cancel licenses at the 15 over mark of course it's unfair, just like 30 over. But that's my opinion and the law disagrees.

Unfortunately we all live and die by an arbitrary rule, fair or unfair.

You either abide by it or don't drive.

Or vote people out if that makes a difference.

T.

speeding doesnt mean ur a crap driver

im sick of vic laws

the increase in suspension time and fines and new P plater laws are just ridiculous

at this rate half the P platers will be off the road

and having that much time suspension, when time comes u get back in a car, you're pretty much back to square 1. Your senses aren't as tuned as they were and your driving ability will drop especially in a manual vehicle.

best to do what gordo did. Just change state or country.

Ok firstly I couldn't be bothered reading all the replys so sorry if this is a repeat of another post.

I've been here done that. lost license for 3 months. got pulled over 3 times while having no license and given tickets each time for speeding, wasn't till the 3rd time someone actually checked to see if i had a license and therefore i got ****ed and had to goto court.

got a lawyer went to court

got off with a $500 fine no extra time losted on license and infact no mention of the previous 2 tickets i had got while suspended. got a short speech about how my record is worst then most people who have been driving for three times as long etc and that was that

got my license back 2 weeks later.

currently I have lost my license again have refrained from driving as I figure i won't be so lucky a second time..

anyway just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah unfortunately my mate had a g/f that lives about a 35-40 min drive away....and the skyline was his only car. When he lost his licence he kept on driving just to go see her.....when he got pulled over he was doing the limit. Since he got busted by the cops he knows he cant drive and had to dump his mrs. Poor bastard. Hopefully he gets off light in court cuz he doesnt wanna have to sell his car!

oh i forgot to mention.....they arrested him, canaried his car and are sending him an EPA. With the canary, they only gave him until the next morning 10am so clearing the canary is going to be a hassle because he cant drive it himself. He called down a mate to drive his car home, and after driving for 5 mins the same undercover car pulls them over again, and they fine his fully licenced mate for driving his mates car who just got pinched because he was displaying p plates and they forgot to take them down. Tight. He got reemed nicely

One other thing; some of you guys said you just got a fine or an extra month off driving - did you guys have a lawyer or did you represent myself? My mate contacted a few lawyers and they have said representation will be around the 1500-3000 mark. Is it worth while for him to get a lawyer ?

Thanks for your help so far guys...my mate feels a little bit betta knowing that he might not get 10,00000 zillion years off driving

Sounds like a pure asshole typical vic cop on a power trip.

Why did they arrest him?

They arrested him for giving fake name/details...when they pulled him over he gave one of his mates names. The cops didn't buy the story after checking up a few details with the boys down at the cop shop and that the owner of the car had no licence. He kept bullshitting until they arrested him

I'm thinking he would of got in less trouble if he had told the truth in the first place instead of being foolish and bullshitting. And for doing that the police officer had every right to arrest him, so he (the police officer) wasn't on a power trip. Just my 2 cents.

Mustve been a really strong relationship :P... WhyTF did he bother gettin busted? Shoulda just dumped her straight away and saved the $500 fine and extra bullshit...

im sorry but this has gone from stupid to retarded.

with all those things considered it'll be a min 6 months extra at least once that story gets to court. It'll be a quick, harsh raping. Simple as that.

And breaking up with ya mrs cause she lives 30-40 mins away?

again, POOR!

i lost my license, and i just got on a bus, train(s) to my mrs place (at the time)

sure it took me the best part of an hour on a good day... and 2 on a bad day.

Still didnt break up with her over something as trivial as that.

someone lock this, its a joke.

Why doesn't the slack b1tch drive round herself?

man this is such a lame/poor excuse! letting the missus go cos he stuffed up?!?!?!?! where's the shame? well unless the missus was on the side thing??? but then again, there are some who would rather sleep and F*** their cars?!?!?!? i think its a joke!

cop it on the chin and get on with it!

thanks for all the 2 cents worth.....me personally if i was in the same position with g/f that lived a 40 min drive away; that would translate into a what.....2 hour+ public transport run each way.......stuff that! My rule is dont go out with any1 that ldoesn't live on the same page as u on the melways.......lol.

Anyhows getting off the trivial bulls**t and back to the original question - anyone else got any input regarding penalties for driving while suspended? just interested to know what some other people have copped in court.

thanks for the input so far everyone!

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
