webng
Did the mod last night and went for a spin, man oh man... a lot more urgency from 2500-4500rpm. Love the sound of boost at this level too! Won't even bother wiring a switch in as there seems to be enough people on the forums that have done this mod and not have had any problems with the solenoid at a constant 8/9psi. Can't decide if it's still worth getting a Turbotech boost controller and hooking up a boost gauge though if i'm not going to bother with modding the turbo anytime soon. edit: got the tt boost controller, want to run 9psi all the time. bluey33
Ive read this few times... Wires and I don't go together but anyhow I'm going to do it... Do you CUT the wire then ground it off... OR Do you T off the wire and ground it off... ???? innocente
This is how I did mine with the switch (red inverted hazard light). Testing it many many times. No difference on the R34-GTT. For the guys that did it on the 34s, are the vacumm tubes to your actuator and solenoid still stock and are the restrictors (2 small sized air restrictors that resembles small beads) removed ? I know for a fact that having the restrictors makes shitload of difference on the boost. vinnie32GTS4
im confused lol so do u cut the white wire and ground it or do u cut the black wire and ground it????? Duncan
cut it and ground it for sure. The other way (taping into wire) might work but it could also be giving the ecu 12v on a wire it expects to have 4v which can't be too good for it. 240R33
Where can i see a pic of what the wires are supposed to look like after the mod? Do you ground the wire off the solenoid or from the ecu? Sorry, i am NO good with wiring at all.... Duncan
Ground the wire from the solenoid side to the chasis, this will hold it open (7psi) all the time. Leave the ecu end as is (well wrap some tape to insultate the loose end) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/42895-howto-rb25det-high-boost-mode-with-standard-solenoid/page/20/#findComment-3309297 Share on other sites

webng
Did this on the weekend, car definitely feels a lot nicer to drive! Now go get one of those Turbotech boost controllers for $35 delivered and run 10psi all the time... "nicer" becomes "exciting"! :laughing-smiley-014: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/42895-howto-rb25det-high-boost-mode-with-standard-solenoid/page/20/#findComment-3326123 Share on other sites
RazoR33
Now go get one of those Turbotech boost controllers for $35 delivered and run 10psi all the time... "nicer" becomes "exciting"! :laughing-smiley-014: I wish it worked for me, I had one installed and it would constantly spike to 15psi under load in any gear beside 1 & 2. So I threw it in the bin and used the standard solenoid trick and now im gettin a solid 7psi all the time. Thanks for the guide btw it fixed my prob now I dont have to worry about blowing my turbo :S Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/42895-howto-rb25det-high-boost-mode-with-standard-solenoid/page/20/#findComment-3334709 Share on other sites

dnbutts
^^ dodgey gauge? running 10.5 PSI with a computer? if they do it? im PISSED at this mod. My car refused to go into high boost with and without the wire connected/disconnected... no idea what was happening. Greddy Spec 2 boost controller soon. Hopefully fix it!
