Yes it'll be a whole lot of fun.

I think it might be a personal import. They're not on the DOTARS list of cars that can be brought in and complied.

So the one that Iron Chef has will be quite rare in Aust.

Parts are easy to get though.

What's your budget again?

The forrester is tiny inside compared to the Stagea, either model... Take some for a drive is my suggestion. The M35 Stagea is definitely value for money at the price they are down to. There is also the newer VQ35 PNM35 04-07 to look at. ;)

You will be able to pick up a C34 cheap, but if you do a lot of short trips and city driving, do expect V8 levels of fuel consumption. Even with steady driving through the city, lots of 80kms sections, I dont usually better 13L/100kms.

Also the space inside isn't so clear cut. I use mine to haul lots of gear, but rarely passengers. With the rear seats up or down there is plenty of cargo space. The front seats have plenty of leg room, but the rear seats will only be suitable for children. Getting adults in there is an odd occurrence for me and its a bit cramped.

Territory Turbo relatively cheap now SO comfortable on long trips heaps of room. Easy mods for faily big power (exhaust debung, F6 typhoon airbox + flash tune 250kw atw low 12s in 2.2 tonne car) but is big and thirsty. Put a good set of 20's on change the rear muffler pretty good looking beast.

Lancer evo. Can stop pretty quickly. Had 4 doors, has auto for long drives, paddles for fun times, doesn't need snow chains, can be fun to drive or a family tug.

Its what I'm going to buy as my family vehicle.

Ive owned a C34 RS4, an Autech 260RS, both great cars, the Autech was a bit spastic but I enjoyed it none the less. I have owned the 2.5 GTB liberty that I modified a bit and own the previous generation Liberty STi wagon now, which is for sale lol.

I would lean towards the Liberty for a few reasons. 1. No funky little differences in regards to parts over the its Jap bro the legacy and no frowns from the mechanics. The Sti handles like a dream too.

All jokes aside, I would prefer to drive my auto sti over my 500hpatw stagea on a daily basis. The liberty does everything, easily.

Op is talking about performance AWD so fuel consumption didn't cross my mind as a massive concern no?

Seems like a decent daily driver with some excitment and allot of traction (safety) controls which would be awsome for a safe family car. It comes with fantastic braking capabilities, allot of airbags etc. Naturally being so heavily loaded with safety features, it needs a bit more stonk to get around so it has an more econmical turbo engine (when compared with a comparably powered V8), with a high compression ratio for easy of boost driving (lol).

Ok, I didn't think that anyone with the funds needed for an Evo 10 would be in the Stage/Legnum pricepoint.

My comment related to the fact that an auto Evo (7or 8) would have comparable, or worse fuel economy to a Stagea; with none of the conveniences of a Stagea.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
