Hey guys,

I'll be spending the next 10 weeks working out in Endeavour Hills. Normally I catch the train to work but public transport isn't an option here.

I own a car, but it not too subtle nor entirely legal. It's used primarily to drive to and from track days.

My question is how bad are the cops/other hoons in the area? Could I get away with driving sensibility during regular day light hours to and from work, or am I going to be targeted horribly?

Cheers.

Where abouts in Endeavour Hills mate? Some areas are safer than others. My friend used to live on David Collins Drive, had his uncle's van stolen twice (Mitsubishi Express) and his car broken into once (Holden Astra).

Welcome to Hoon city; Where the kids grew up and stopped riding push-bikes and began driving turbo cars.

You will note that there is a hoon hotline sign when entering James Cook Drive from Hallam North Rd.

I carry my CAMS license in the event of a 'random' check/breath-test to differentiate myself from the hoons vs trackday enthusiast keeping in it off the street.

there are hoon hotline signs in all suburbian areas. not just e-Hills. and the e-hills cops arent pricks lol, so if you've been pulled over by them they tend to let you off with warnings if you are polite..

Yes and there are speed limit signs all across Australia....

I didn't mean Endeavour Hills was Hoon City simply because it had one single hoon hotline sign.

Ok so what you implied is that e hills is where all hoons come from, and also made a fairly bold statement linking that to the hoon hotline sign.

I'm pretty sure every suburb has hoons, just like there are speed limit signs all over Aus!

And trust me, whipping out the old cams license isn't gonna do shit if you've been speeding.

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
