Stretching Tyres

Hi I'm getting new tyres either 265/35/18 again or 255/35/18.

Can u stretch either size of the tyres? I like the look of stretching, car isn't to low either so wouldn't have any rubbing problems.

265/35 is fine on a 10". The amount of stretch look will depend on the tyre.

E.g. my 18x10 came with Potenza TS-02, they look pretty stretched. I put Azenis FK452 on two of them and they have a little bit of stretch. Same size tyres 265/35/18.

lol achilles are shit, and paying 300 each for good tyres is totally worth it.

The 595 RSR for the price cannot be beaten, they perform just as well as the likes of the Toyo R888 and they sit at almost $500 each. Don't be cheap and put decent rubber on the car. 100% worth it. Tyres are the second most important part of the car.

thats barely any stretch at all. ive got 245/35s on my 10s and thats still not that much stretch

You're definitely getting ripped for those Federals. You can get KU31 for less than $200 each in 265/35/18. I got Falken FK452 for $180 each (check tempe tyres from time to time, cheap cheap. Contact Bob Jane for Dunlop Sport Maxx).

I would not put anything less than 265 on a 10".

I would never stretch any tyre. Sidewall not ~90° to tread face = wrong installation.

In any brand 265/35 is not going to be much stretch on a 10J rim.
Achilles are a big tyre for the size, so the stretch look will be less.
I think 255/35 is fine on a 10J rim and you should get some stretch because the sidewall is small.

Just go by what the tyre manufacture recommends, I still don't understand the logic behind people stretching tyres, if you can't fit the rim under the guard buy wheels that fit, don't stretch tyres.

Not having a go at the OP btw, obviously a 10 will fit on a GTR but just so sick of seeing all this stretched tyre crap.

Both tyre sizes are listed as fitting a 10 for the rsr, so either is fine.

Ravi I know it's a f*kn rip off just for standard 595s, I will look into it so I should stay with 265s and get abit of stretch out of it I geuss. Cheers

I don't have pictures of the Falkens, but they have broader shoulders compared to the Bridgestone and hence look a lot less stretched (no rim protector lip). Try ringing your local Bob Jane and ask for best price for Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. My local said Bob Jane has a deal with Dunlop to get cheap tyres. If not, look at shipping in from tempe/st george/ozzy or similar.

I have a 10.5 rim. The atr sports were slightly stretched the i got 595 rsr's (240 a pop) no way will i pay 300 each for them, thats a pineapple up the ass. Anywho, there is basically no stretch now.

This is with a rim 1/2" bigger than yours.
