Hi guys, mums old ipad 1 is getting pretty out of date, so im looking for a new tablet for my boy.

What would you recommend?

Id like to get something with a decent processor, so i dont have to update it for a while.

Most importantly it has to withstand a fair amount of abuse, being thrown off the couch, getting hammered on by his little hands(sometimes feet), being drooled on and milk squirted on it.

Id also like a good screen for his eyes, and decent battery life.

Thanks, mik.

Matt, your free pass to hell is ready at the front desk. Just ask for Satan.

Mik, check these out, they have a handle, which will be, well, handy for the little guy.

My Partner's son uses my iPad and he's 4. It's a good choice because it's not too hard to find things like cases for. He managed to break the screen once and that cost $150 to replace I think but at least the option was there. Some of the less supported tabs are harder to find parts for if something does go wrong. Hope that helps.

Also, joining the bandwagon here. Matt, you're a dick :P

I get one of the cheap Android ones like this:

Even the real cheap ones perform really well.

Perhaps try and pick up a second hand Nexus 7. My wife has one and it's a cracker. I reckon you'd get one on Fleabay for ~$120 mark. If the budget stretches to a Nexus 7 2 that'd be even better. I've got one and it's brilliant. It's my first foray into a real tablet (I have a Surface Pro as well) and I love it. The 1080 screen is mad.

Get him a tablet called "The Outside World"

It's awesome. It's what I grew up with, I had the best life and have the best stories to go with it!

you think this thread is a story you'd tell your grand kids?

"The day I tried to burn cerebral palsy". By Poppy Matt.

on topic. The Samsung range (especially the ATIV) are very much a weaker build quality and would not stand up to a minor beating. But they are great tablets and god battery life.

as much as an anti apple person that I am. You really cant get a better build quality than the iPad.

Your best bet would be to go down to hardly normal or office works and play, simply cause of the ruggedness requirements you have.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
