op, look at the smaller sized precision and hta turbos.

both offer great power and response for what you want.

if you have already started the swap, keep going.

if not, as suggested, stay with the vq, and get great throttle response, and power.

and less attention from the law.

Lol. Lmfao. Man this is a funny thread. I dont even know where to start help wise.

A gtx42 is way to big for your 500hp goal. GTX3582R would do the trick and leave room for a little more.

Good luck and search it really helps.

Regardless of which turbo, this is still predicated on the assumption that he will take out a modern 3.5 litre aluminium V6 with a hell of a pedigree for a rattly old f**king RB that can trace its roots all the way back to the early '70s.

Now, I like my dirty old RBs......but you'd be a fool to think that dollar for dollar you would get anything better out of a transplanted 26 than you would keeping the VQ and slapping a turbo and some management onto it. You wouldn't even get "cred" for it as far as I am concerned. It's already been done, therefore it's not even "different". Just foolish.

^^ This.

Unfortunately the VQ35 isn't much chop in stock form, the bottom end is just too fragile, but for the cost of the planned swap it could be a built... Overnight parts from Japan.

Or just drop a VQ25det in there, will take 500hp stock.

    • I've replaced the front brakes of my NA to 324 brembos and 350z calipers: i'm going for 225/40-18 up front and 245/35-18 in the back. I have Rays 7.5*19 ET35(225/35) in the front with 5mm spacers otherwise the calipers "lock up/ won't rotate". When i use the calculator i come up with 8*18 ET30 for 225/40...... but not sure i get problems with the calipers. Anyone riding around with 18 inch. that can confirm "that it'll fit"? In the back it's 7.5*9 ET30 (245/30) with the 5mm spacers, but there is no problem with the standard small brakes, so i want to take 8.5*18 ET25 (245/35).
    • Lol.. but then.. always come back to a JDM..
    • Glad to hear. If possible, get your tuner to check air's to make sure everything is still where it should be.
    • The problem with FB/Insta/Reddit etc comments relating to cars is simple. You get to ask a question once, and get one round of replies. For things that can actually be answered in a few lines of text, once, it's fine. After 6 hours, your original question is lost to the void. There are no follow ups, additional questions, anything. No project car is ever such a simple list of questions to ask. You need discussion.
    • Welcome.  Here's what I have noticed about forum vs FB..... FB; seems to be wallet racing, and the same few questions asked over and over. There *may* be some groups that are closer knit, but most have changed for the worse. SAU; unfortunately, no longer in its glory days. But....genuine people with similar interests. Not all about how much you spent and saying you dont have enough power. Sooooooo much knowledge available. Have personally seen people post up about literally topics I made myself, asking on FB like no one has done it before. Most has been done, and most of that is here.   If you ever feel like just general chatting theres the wasteland.  Other interests are also generally covered in other areas of the forum. Hope you enjoy hanging around. We would love to have you.   P.s. nice 32 😀
