i think he did deserve the drive through, as it was unsafe, i mean yeah nothing happened but last year or year before there was the wheel that went strolling down pit lane and smashed the camera man...

No-one is disagreeing with him getting a drive-through penalty. It just doesn't seem fair that he should be punished twice for it.

Edit: Disregard that. I didn't see your earlier post.

I wish the whole race had the same intensity of the first few laps. When the field is condensed and on cold tires its edge of your seat stuff. You forget for a brief moment that there is a complete lack of noise and just get enthralled in the racing.

He got a 10 second stop-go from what I remember, and he may have retired before serving it (not sure on this) - which would explain the grid penalty if he did.

Although reading it, it does look like they are giving him both the stop-go and the grid penalty. Guess they are making an example of it or something.

yeah i just read on f1.com that its new for 2014, if you're deemed to have an unsafe release you'll receive a 10sec stop go AND then also a 10 place grid penalty. I think he did serve the stop go also before he retired.

and yeah love the starts to the races but sorta falls off in the middle and then the end can be a bit better... needs safety car....

I don't understand why he got this, Wasn't it webbers car last year when the tyre hit the camera man. As much as I love webber, why did he not get a 10 spot penalty but ricciardo does?

Plus look at all the Hamilton pit stop screw ups the last two years with unsafe releases.... why is this so different?

Put like that ^ it does seem a bit strange that they now do the 5 second stop-go penalty where teams can pit, do the 5 seconds, then work on the car (therefore not as harsh/race ruining penalty), but then they seem to have made the unsafe release twice as harsh

I guess there is more people in the pit-lane that can get hurt, but I dunno, still seems harsh to me. Unless it is one or the other and because Dan didnt serve his 10 second penalty he gets the grid penalty for next race

It's a bloody stupid rule to be honest. How is it the drivers fault? Personally i believe the team should recieve the penalty, be it a fine or constructors points. It's abit rediculus that the driver should be penalised when its something they have zero control over.

God so sick of watching F1 on OneHD. Has anyone found a way to watch via Sky F1 directly? I've been considering Sky f1 Control via VPN/DNS via a UK proxy but to be honest it's still rediculusly expensive. Also abit of a risk, if its even possible as its 12months at a minimum term. All i really want is unhindered FULL coverage i'm more then happy to pay $30>40 a month for it for gods sake.

merc looking VERY good for both championships now

what a points head start

the fact Lewis smoked everyone and STILL had used less fuel than anyone else in the top 10 by a few laps from the end shows how well sorted the Merc is

the driver is considered part of the team

no team orders means has its justifiable knock on effects now

    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
    • Ive converted a few clusters for the R33 with 320km/h dials. On the back there are some pads which can be bridged or unbridged (using solder or wick braid) to calibrate it. There is one bridge which is for MPH <> KPH; and there are combinations of bridges to offset it. There is probably a diagram  For example; this is my conversion for a 180km/h dial to a 320km/h dial (I put custom GT-R dials on it with the GTS25t layout) If you have J2 soldered (assuming the S clusters have a similar config to the R clusters); you may need to remove that solder
    • Back on topic 😉, these are some of the notable pages from the booklets that are supplied with each weekly parts update. I never knew the BNR32 test mule car had an S13 Silvia front end... *Edit: On closer inspection the test car still had the R32 body, but only the front end had Silvia panels etc.
