I did took it to a mechanic 1 month ago and said the same thing, they said theres nothing wrong with it even using the computer it indicated theres nothing weird at all. I am only aware this car only has spiltfire coils, K&N air filter, turbo timer as i got this car only last year.

Must be my driving i suppose.

Is the place to measure the boost leak in front of the driver near the oil filter that is covered by a small black tip to put a gauge in?

If so the mechanic also measure it with his gauge and it indicated no leaks at all.

3000rpm really shouldn't be causeing issues, especially in a 34. General driving I've found my 33 GTST is most fuel economical driving at 3000-3500rpm marks. My Bluebird is similar story and has no issues going well above the 3000rpm mark both cars have 20yr old never rebuilt engines in them. Odd with the fuel smell etc, my 33 is always fuelie but is in desperate need of a tune. Possibly might not hurt to take it to another mechanic just for the sake of a second opinion.

@ Anfanee: Well i don't really know cause i just got this car last year and it came with it, but i cleaned it 1 month ago using K&N oil filter cleaning kit and it looks how it suppose to.

I'm going to do a full service soon as it going to hit the 97 000 km mark soon so i'm going to pray its going to feel smooth when i first got this car :)

Rev it hard.

If it blows up it was a shit engine and you didnt want it anyway , unless you do want a shit engine, which would be weird. (But make sense at the same time as this thread is weird)

the biggest problem is you have an oil filter, it restricts the engine and makes it less fuel efficient around the 3300rpm mark

take that pesky thing off and let it free flow, you will gain around 4L of fuel around 100km and increase of around 30whp

#@Elegant Skyline

It will not break the car reving it past 3000rpm when taking off from the lights to keep up with traffic.

So don't worry about that honestly, these engines have had farrrr worse treatment and have been able to handle it.

If you are looking for better fuel economy then maybe start with how much you are currently using.

How many Km would you get from 50L or fuel and we can tell you if it's bad or just a normal skyline.

Then you can start crossing things off the list below and try improve it.

Clean your AFM

Replace your O2 sensor

Check for boost leaks

These are just to name a few things to start with.

If you don't understand what the above are then I suggest doing a search in google or taking the car to a mechanic to get them done.

Cheers

    • Hi. This is just my curiosity because iam sure the tuner figure something out...but either way i want to ask. The "problem" is that the Nistune ECU (Stagea FW and RB25DET NEO from Stagea) sees many times the speed than the speedo does(he says the speedo show 120 km/h - correct speed and the ECU shows like 510km/h ) I told him that this car/tranny getting speed from rear diff. If iam not mistaken the RB25DET NEO "need" to see tranny speed sensor? (my tranny has the plug for it). So couple of "question" If he connects/wire the speed sensor to the tranny...are the signals gonna intervene and if...what if he disconnects the rear diff one and the speedo stops working? Or the "new" sensor from the tranny "take over" and will not going need the one from diff? As i said i know he figure/get that done...iam just curious to know what are the solutions 🙂
    • Your IACV is set to idle too low. You need to adjust it via the screw Duncan mentioned. From memory it should be 650rpm with the valve electrics unplugged. What is it trying to idle at with the IACV plugged in?
    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
