currently building one using the 300k+ block that's already in the car ( seems to be in perfect condition surprisingly so have all my 30's other then one having f**ked vss ) and if i'm feeling adventurous highly unlikely though as i am a lazy flamin mongrel who hates to lay on the floor other then to sleep, the sump will be coming off to throw some bearings in it and to bump up the oil pressure up (lack of driveway).

almost together and consists of

gt35/40 cheapie on a decent high mount and external gate

3.5' superdragger i think

ebay plenum

660cc injectors

decent cooler 2.5" piping

z32 afm ( thinking about going the r35 route thoughts ? )

decent cooler

stock 25det head tidied up and modified for vct

arp studs

stock head gasket not genuine nissan

hdi boost controller

twin tensioners side by side

ebay oil cooler

external bosch 044 with surge

alloy rad

genuine nissan thermostat

cheapie catch can to do the catching

mx7/33box with 4 puck clutch

thinking about limiting it to 6.5 k rpm with the 300k old bearings and stock oil pump or around the 7 mark if i can be arsed to change the bearings.

hoping to pound it with 20psi and am hoping for just over the 300 mark, thoughts ?

Sounds ok I have 314 awkw with stock unbalanced bottom end but with rings, bearings and conrod bolts limited to 7000rev/min and 1.5bar. If you don't do the bearings limit it to 6000 - 6500 and it should make near enough the same power.

Kiwi rs4t that sounds like exactly what i'm hoping to do ! thanks, i have been waiting for thread like this to come up haha.

Superben, Surprisingly the motor looks brand new, the car has been serviced at a max interval of 7,000km's since new and everything that can be seen looks great.

Mine is a completely untouched low km bottom end bolted to a untouched head.

Rev limited to 6500rpm and 20psi putting just over 350rwkw. Only ever gets driven hard too.

Got some blow by at wtac, but that may have been from bouncing of the limiter all the down the main straight.

Cylinder psi is 130 across all 6 but im not sure I check correctly either.

Edit. Does has a 25 oil pump

i just pulled apart my next rb30. has pistons with 67s20 on the top. can anyone confirm if there genuine nissan rebuild ones? the part number on the pistons is the last numbers of the nissan rings but cant find part number as pistons

hopefully they are nissan ones. rebuilt between 100000 and 205000km somewhere

I'm not familiar with stock rb30 pistons, but stock rb26 pistons have 05U and a dot indicating front. So if 67S20 is the end of a Nissan part number it seems likely they are standard. And therefore standard bore as well which is good

    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
    • Ive converted a few clusters for the R33 with 320km/h dials. On the back there are some pads which can be bridged or unbridged (using solder or wick braid) to calibrate it. There is one bridge which is for MPH <> KPH; and there are combinations of bridges to offset it. There is probably a diagram  For example; this is my conversion for a 180km/h dial to a 320km/h dial (I put custom GT-R dials on it with the GTS25t layout) If you have J2 soldered (assuming the S clusters have a similar config to the R clusters); you may need to remove that solder
    • Back on topic 😉, these are some of the notable pages from the booklets that are supplied with each weekly parts update. I never knew the BNR32 test mule car had an S13 Silvia front end... *Edit: On closer inspection the test car still had the R32 body, but only the front end had Silvia panels etc.
