This reminds me when I used to ride road bikes. A mate put a Honda decal on a Kawasaki and you should have heard the shit fight. Some people even got angry.

Its the same as slapping on a 'M' badge on a beemer.

I personally dont care what people do. If it makes you happy :)

BMW will slap M labels everywhere for you if you order the M-sport pack even for a gutless 320i...

I think there's a certain comedic value to be had from badges, such as fitting a GTR badge to a clapped-out old 120Y.

Someone once stuck a BMW badge on the bonnet of my 180B.

Took me about a month to notice it (the less I actually looked at that car, the better).

But still lucky it didn't catch on fire Tez.

theres time yet.

its still running.

at least assume it is, cos he still likes it.

I have a friend who has a GTSTR Badge on his car. His car can outrun alot of GTR's in the area though so he kinda earned it haha. But guys who put GTR badges remind me of people in the USA who shop at pep boys and autozone putting the fake stick on hood scoops. Doesnt piss me off just gives me a nice laugh :D

No

He is just a knob

I once had a dude in a R34 GTT-t with a GTR badge on it try and get me to race him in my BNR32, I told him he is dreaming and to take his GTT pos home ( no offence to GTT owners as even you guys would have called this thing a pos ) he then swear blind it was a GTR with a single turbo conversion

The look on his face when I pointed out the 4wd had been " converted " to :)

The 180 is a genuine classic brah, shoulda held onto that shitter!

Maybe today it is. In 1989 it was just another crappy Jap family sedan (though mine was a rally car, so I did like it). It was well past its use-by date so I ended up transferring the mechanicals across into a 1600 and took the rusted out shell to the Mt Isa tip.

Had I held onto the B, I imagine I'd now have a nice pile of rust to admire.

No denying that, it goes to show even BMW dont care too much about the prestige of the m badge.

Close!

Alfetta GTV purchased new in '79 - sold in '81

* girls swooned over that car but...

* white smoke billowed like a cumulus cloud after busting an a/c bracket

* exhaust manifold pulled away from the block

* uni joints kept breaking when pushed through hairpins

    • I think in the modern era we live in, if I were converting a hydro lifter head to solid, particularly when chasing revs, I'd be seeing what I could do to use shimless buckets. Those of us with Neos usually have this persistent niggling fear of a shim getting spat out and ruining everything. Shim-over is...yucky that way. At least the Tomei kit appears to be conventional, but it would still be nice if they'd decided to go shimless.
    • Ok guys thank you very much. GCG highflow it is then 🙂
    • forgot to mention that when it does this it does not kill the engine, but I have not kept the pedal down long enough to let it, as I see no reason to beat up on it as its got to be something simple, small and dumb causing this.  And as soon as I let off pedal, the engine returns to its normal super smooth operation and rpms re-stabilize quickly, once below 4k.
    • neither stumble or cut really seem to be an appropriate term....hard to explain its like a rev limiter but at 4k, but it violently shakes engine and entire vehicle as the rpms will not rise over 4k, even with slow acceleration. as soon as it hits 4k, it sounds like entire spark is lost entirely. plugs were 1.1 which I used as such, but later put in new plugs gapped down to .8 changed back after issue arose when I replaced the coils, still does it with either plug gap...damn and it was all running so good.
    • Oh how times have changed! I actually lean it out relative to my water/methanol injector duty cycle. The methanol adds a lot of fueling and you can then lean it out even more due to reduced knock.
