Hey there all,

Long time stalker of the forums but am a newbie in general.

I am just looking for a bit of advice about what to do.

Just quick car info r34 gtt 4dr no mods

I put in for a Pedder's checkup and is seems that i have leaking shocks in the rear. Now the guy says they only do full coilover kits and there are a couple of bits and pieces that they will do as well. I am getting the full report tonight. But the quote was $2870 for the kit and labor. Just wondering if this is good or a bit much. And if anyone had anything to say about Pedders Gear

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about other places in the Melbourne west suburbs preferably.

Any information much appreciated

import dudes need to stop going to Pedders, leave it for the commo crowd. Would need to see the report but if its for full coilover kit; get BC BR's $1300 delivered and spend a few hours sat arvo to put them in, job done.

Don't think there's anything wrong with Pedders stuff per say, you just pay alot more for it than you might have to shopping around.

Try Pedders in South Melbourne, you might not get much of a discount but at least they won't try to rip you off and will be of more assistance.

Or just grab a set of BC's and ask for some assistance on here to slap em in in an afternoon.

jesus farking christ.. $2870? what the hell you getting Ohlins? lol...

get a set of BC BR, and find someone in the Melbourne forum to install it for you for a few slabs or cash..wouldn't be more than $200 at most.

Hey Again and once again thanks for the comments

i am guessing they are just pedders sports package or something

A couple of other things are the bump stops/boots need replacing front and rear, and the tow arm outer rose joints are worn and the rear shocks of course

The guys said that everything comes with the kit eg bumps bushes front and back. also that includes the rear steering component from nissan but that is on back order

So yeah there it is

TBH I am not really after the Coil overs that is just what they have for skylines(again what the guy said) just anything a bit better then stock would be nice and the bits that go with it. Cause it is pretty much my daily driver.

But i will do a bit of digging in the trade forums for that stuff.

But once again thanks for all the help

And yeah anyone willing to come round and help out That would be awesome could put on a bbq and beer or something :D:D

Really, best bang-for-buck would be Bilstein shocks and Kings low springs. I have them on my 32, and the ride is firm but not bone-jarring.

You are welcome to come round to my place with all the bits and I will help install them.

Nissan:

Shock boots $300 pair

Toe arms $640 pair

Unsure on bumps and shocks

It's a reasonable quote if everything is Nissan Genuine.

Amayama Shock boots $10 each http://www.amayama.com/search/?q=54055-15U00

KYB do standard shocks for the r33 for $300 pair. Unsure what the part numbers are for the r34 sorry. And i can't find part numbers for the toe arms.

If you find the part numbers through google, you can do your own searching and find the best prices then do it yourself :) There are plenty of how to's on the internet.

Just found this site

http://www.epc-data.com/

and it seems to have a load of the codes and things for parts

then used the www.amayama.com Thanks Stagea97 for the prices and came up with for front and back full kits. $1,259.73

this is for PO 55400 - member complete, rear suspension

and for PO 54400M member complete front suspension

This seems about right can some one let me know if it is?

$600 for used... No way. Not ever. In a million years. And Wasn't that group buy in 2008?

Kyb are one of the leading manufacturers in stock replacement struts shocks. I recomended these because the OP is obviously after original or as close to. Otherwise I would have recommended something else along with aftermarket arms etc etc...

If the OP is only after standard replacement shocks for a daily that doesn't intend on doing anything special with the car then I'd just go with the KYB's.

You could try these if you wanted to slap something in quickly.

I bought them direct from SK only 2 months ago. New.

Twin tube dampers are shit. KYB make twin tube dampers.

But if i were to get these i would still have to get the Bump stops yes/no?

And definitely the toe arms...

If you were to buy those, then you probably wouldn't need to buy bump stops, because the ones in there might be fine.

Buying those would be such a waste of $450 though. You could put that toward some proper dampers.

You're not looking for toe arm anything. You're most likely looking for tie rod ends. And they might be stuffed, or they might be fine. That's why I won't go near a Pedders. Face it. I have an R32, so twice as old as your car, and the front tie rod ends are fine. I know this because I checked them out personally only a short while ago. 170000 kays too.

The original Pedders quote seems pricey to me, especially considering what these cars are worth.

I was looking at this a couple of years ago, cheapest OEM replacement suspension I could find was around $800 mark and a set of BC BR's was about $1100. I went with the latter and very happy with them (custom spring rates). These are pretty easy to install at home with basic tools and plenty of WD-40. My car's a 4-door as well, happy to give further details if needed.

    • Dear folks My family members have 4 different cars : Triton 2015 and Corolla 2011 and Mazda3 2012 and Hyundai Elantra 2014 Looking to buy engine oil funnel spill free What I found are are below  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BBTTJNKX?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image&th=1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145553221359?srsltid=AfmBOoqYBU6Ptw0LU_bAp_k67U3qkF97HHvePkA7iHZw8vUmiwoIRaRr https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X23TCS5?th=1 Is there a funnel with attachment that fits most cars ? Don't mind to spend for a decent quality  Thx
    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
