If you think you're getting impatient and excited, spare a thought for poor little me!!! :P

The car is in the workshop as we speak, and I'm going in tomorrow morning to take photos of the engine which has just been completely stripped down :P:)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi guys, I do have a GT-SS installed in my 33. We dynoed the car on Dynapack and get 430awhp & 530awhp on 1.25bar and 1.6bar respectively. I have the dynochart uploaded here.

powergraph_4wheel.jpg

The car is running on the following specs:

- 264 IN/EX cams 10mm lift

- P&P head

- 87mm Forged Pistons

- Standard rods & crank

- F-Con V Pro

Boost comes in very early on the GT-SS and it'll hit 1.4bar on 4th&5th gear before 4000rpm on my setup.

Subtract about 20 to 25 rwkw to get Dyno Dynamics (roller) comparison.

so SK what turbo's would you prefer on your totaly stock Rb26....

the GT-SS bolt on or 2530 Bolt on ?

what would do a better qtr mile at say 20PSI.

what would have better "response"

thx

Honestly S7, I have no idea. :headspin: I have never tried a set of GT-SS's. Looking at their spec I would say they sit somewhere in between 2510's and 2530's. I have tried 2510's and they were great on a road car, but went a little flat over 6,500 rpm in the higher gears (3,4,5). The 2530's seemed not to loose much in the lower rpm, but didn't start to run out of airflow until 7,500 rpm in the high gears.

Like everyone else I await the GT-SS results

great, cant wait to see the results.

My engine gets shoehorned back into the car tomorrow :D:):D

Even with a 30rwkw advantage of the Dynapack, that's still 365awkw @ 1.6 bar from the GT-SS... That doesn't sound a little high to anyone else?

I'll be happy to crack 300awkw :)

I'm not sure... I have to call the tuner tomorrow and see when we can fit her in :headspin:

I didn't want to book it in until I was sure the car is ready to go... There are too many things that can hold an engine build up for me to forecast when the car would be ready to be tuned, so I didn't book in advance :D

Mate, I'll try and supply as much information to you guys as I possibly can :D

I'd like to get a printout of boost vs. rpm as well... I'll see what I can persuade the tuner to give me... A few are pretty anal about printing out A/F ratio graphs as they think they're giving away trade secrets

Thats still one hell of a figure though - 395AWKW subtract 25 = 370 AWKW on roller dyno - Ide be suprised if GTSS (on pump fuel) made that type of power.

Hi Jezzrrr, that's 20 to 25 RWKW, not AWKW. I have never tested a roller dyno and a hub dyno back to back on a high power 4WD, like I have 2WD. I suspect just doubling the RWKW difference to get AWKW difference would be a bit pessimistic. I reckon 35 to 40 AWKW might be closer. So 395 AWKW subtract 40 AWKW = 355 AWKW.

That's still a damn good result

    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
