My Rx7 S8 Track Car Build

Recommended Posts

the brakes used to get cooling from this area (stock, but I don't have any of the wheel liners or ducting as it didn't fit with wide guards) but I have since blocked them off since adding the defuser with a lip that clips to the front bar.

most race cars/time attack cars use this method of drawing air from under the car instead.

you want as little air coming in from the front bar as possible i shouldn't even have the oil cooler ducted like this but hay i'm going to mitigate this problem by venting the guards and that's why these guards are also good as they remove air from out of the wheel well too.

its quite interesting how Mazda ducted the oil coolers up and over the wheel and out the vent in the guard

this car proves you dont need power to go fast and besides the more power you have the more likely you are going to break something.

I dropped 5 seconds at south circuit just by upping tyres, improving brake pedal and learning how to drive around a race track. Standard engine and boost.

Also, thanks for the front splitter material share, I need to make something for the front of my car (no factory plastic down there).

P.S. I think the FD3S is one of the sexiest cars of all time and has good engineering behind it.

Yes I'm a slacker i haven't updated this in ages......... memory check

Went to Wakefield back in November found the 10kg springs in the rear were to soft and put the balance of the car out :(

then we went into full maintenance mode over the summer break!!!
rebuilt the stock brakes and upgraded to Winmax W3 in the front and W5's in the rear.
changed a couple of rear pillow ball bushes, front tie rod ends and front hubs/bearings & rear wheel bearings.

then we changed the rear springs to 12kg's

Sadly didn't have time to paint the front bar and lip either :(

we also started work on the new dash but ran out of time so that's still om the to do list!!!

Then at the start of Feb we went down to Wakefield to  test & tune but that's didn't go to plan as it rained all day but we did get to bed the brakes in, sadly we couldn't do any suspension setup :(

Last Sunday we done our first Super Sprint for the year and managed a new PB @ SMSP South Circuit :)
