My Rx7 S8 Track Car Build

Recommended Posts

and finally a few pic's from SMSP GP Circuit on the weekend entered the Super Sprint.

had a great time, had to relearn the car, and learning the circuit was very happy with my time of 1:51. wish i had a bit more clean air but got put in the newbie group so was fighting a bit of traffic.

overall was very happy with the car it ran great, have a few tyre rubbing issues to sort out. ( probably lift the rear 5-10mm and have to get the front wheels milled down 3-5mm and cut the lip off the front guards)

only other concern is oil temps were about 120* full pelt but as soon as you backed off it cooled down rappidly. then when you get back to the pits the water rises from 80 up to 100* and stay's there for a while. will make a thermo fan override switch so i don't have to keep the RED's on.

was talking to nulon and changed from penrite mineral oil to they're synthetic so might have to send them and email and get a sample tested and we might be able to adapt it a bit more for rotary use or change viscosity again got recommended a 15w-50 so will make sure it's suitable for the 35 degree day we just had.

waiting on track/action shot's :)

Cheers, Ryan :)

The old rims are 18x8.5 with skyline offset originally bought them for the Stagea.

(that's the Koya RG Tec's the gun metal grey ones...... the white Work Meisters are already sold)

Rims are for sale if your keen, 1 has trailer rash and needs to be repaired/painted :(

They have rubber on them but suggest replacing as they are 2 years old and have done 6 track days......

just using them to store the car on atm though

cheers, guys :)

the goal is WTAC but it'll be a slow road to get there but in the mean time we'll keep learning and having fun!!!

for now while we develop the car we will just be doing club type CAMS events. as stated we done our first proper Super Sprint on Saturday and came 45th out of 98.
huge variety of cars from Road registered vehicles to clubmans/kitcars and replica's to IPRA, WTAC cars, Sports sedans, Open wheelers etc

That's cos its factory tune :P no engine mod's yet HAHA

besides its only 0.17 slower and I didn't want to break the front defuser I reckon there is another 2 seconds out of this stock setup (engine wise)

Love this strategy, engine mods last. Most people want all the powa first and end up driving a pretty dangerous car.

Diffuser looks great, what material did you use?

this is true, I could only imagine having 300kw and then putting a rollcage in and putting it into the wall.
the G-Force difference is crazy!!! starting to get used to it now.

the main thing is im developing the car and learning to drive it and i think there is so much to be had by learning the chassis once im happy ill start doing engine mods but even then im going to start slow from 190kw to 240 then 300 and 350.

this car proves you dont need power to go fast and besides the more power you have the more likely you are going to break something.

I used alupanel, you can get it from a signwriter. its a thin layer of alloy with a composite in the middle.

So true. I've got limited skill, a heavy car with a fair bit of power, and somehow manage to break something most outings. I'd go and learn a light car with less power in a heartbeat if I had my time again.

Brilliant work, looks great! What's the theory behind the two risers above, for increased downforce or some form of cooling?
