If anything, the less power you have, the more you'd want to optimise every ounce of corner speed you could! The real reason the Red Bull chassis and aero isn't as good as years ago is the technical staff they've lost. Or maybe they've never been any good at making downforce without drag...

but you read between the lines that the engine is on par or close to par with the Merc engine... and go on the blame the engine for the chassis problems as well! lol

Are you reading between the lines?.....I asked if anyone in the paddock thinks the engines are on par or near par.

you think RBR developed their car over the winter with massive compromises

Now you are telling me what I think...reading between the lines again.

This is fun but pretty pointless.

I am happy to agree with you 100% from here on because...because...I don't why but I just will. :P

By "Renaults numbers" I am assumning the data they have to compare between the STR and RBR chassis. So I preseume they make the pretty safe leap that both are light years from Mercedes.

But, James Key is one clever fella...he almost got Force India a victory at Spa and FI were a pretty competitive team...and we saw what his car in the hands of Perez did at Sauber before joining STR. So STR could easily be a quality car, so being marginal behind RBR need not be a huge indictment of RBR.

Sepang will be a good test...Lotus to score big points this weekend!

Why would you ask that in response to Renault's comments? The only logical conclusion is you thought Renault (like FIFA in your analogy) were trying to clear themselves of any blame - that's not reading between the lines. It's what you actually said.

Which would be suggesting (as you went on the ask) that their engines were not the problem, would it not?

No, I'm pretty sure I was not reading between the lines there.

But the obvious answer is no. Not even Renault thnk their engine is on or near par with Mercedes. They said that in the articles you were responding to! Why did you ask that?

Now you are telling me what I think...reading between the lines again.

I guess three question marks wasn't enough to make it clear I was asking in disbelief (rather than telling)... But you did say "RBR's compromises to accommodate an engine down on power" so I don't think you can really accuse me of reading between the lines again when I said 'you think RBR developed their car over the winter with massive compromises"!

Looks like the Lotus has some pace too.

I realize this has probably been covered somewhere. Is there a way of streaming the races live. I hate the idea of pay tv.

Actually this, im moving house soon and won't have foxtel.....

anyone know? i know i could Download the entire thing after the race, but live is special..

I hate the idea of pay TV too. Thankfully this race is on at a reasonable hour and the local pub has enough screens to show both the cricket final and F1 race live on FOX. I guess I'll just have to have a steak and a few beers this weekend! hehe

sounds better than streaming to me!

lol, in an all or nothing world you would be right Harry

Does anyone in the paddock think Maldonardo is as good as Hamilton?

Don't get me wrong, i'm not suggesting he is. I'm not suggesting anyone else said he is either. Not even between the lines. I'm just asking a completely random, meaningless question for absolutely no reason. It certainly doesn't have anything to do with what we're talking about here either, so don't ask me wtf I'm on about - that would just make it obvious to everyone that your mind is far too closed and your perspective far too limited from your all or nothing view of the world to ever possibly understand the deep, complicated nature of the question.

Kimi only 0.2sec off Rosbergs time. Not that you can read too much into FP1, but its encouraging to think we might have more than a 2 horse race at some point this season.

Poor Dan. Might be a case of right place, wrong time

Track evolution in Malaysia is pretty big apparently. So don't read too much into early runs.

The only right place is MB. Or maybe Ferrari if your career is over and you want to pick up a big cheque.

Funny how much people are talking about driveability. Wonder how much the off track programming and timing of the harvesting etc is affecting lap times. Hate to think the outcome of a race would be influenced unduly by engine mapping based on circuit modelling done on the other side of the world. Then again its F1 so why should that be any different.

    • This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking
    • Since you came here to ask for help, have you thought about answering our questions, that might help us lead you to why it was skipping, or have you given up on getting advice?
    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
