bugspl4t
Hey guys, ive been searching around for a new turbo for my rb20. doing lots of research and everything trying to find an affordable good working one. or just gonna suck it up and go with a garrett 3071i've been trolling through ebay for the last couple of weeks. been seeing a fair few "mamba GTX3071r" turbos. Now im 100% sure they are garrett copies. but from what i've read so far (which isnt much) is that they are made by a main guy who left kinugawa and started to make these.their website "mambatek.com" doesnt work. but their shop does via their facebook. now i've seen kinugawa turbos pull some pretty decent numbers, and also cop some serious hate. But the numbers dont lie.https://www.facebook.com/MAMBATEK?ref=ts&fref=ts - their facebook http://www.shop.mambatek.com/ - their shop I dunno what to think about them. atm i'll probably just suck it up and go with a garrett but for future reference and for other people i think these should be looked into. they are manufactured in taiwan from what i've seen. they say they are "high quality"Link to a 3071r - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mamba-Ball-Bearing-Billet-Turbocharger-3-GTX3071R-w-A-R-64-T3-V-Band-Hsg-/171573754324?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27f297b9d4Anyone used these before? or seen them blow up? or even just heard about them?cant find any videos and i've found 1 thread on them so far which comprised of about 3 comments on hardtuned.com Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451652-mambatek-turbochargers/ Share on other sites

chiksluvit
Seems legit, new turbo company, seems to make some ok products, and at least they are not trying to pretend to be a japanese company I personally know a couple of Wrxs had success in running taiwanese turbos, but seeing that this is a new company I doubt you'd see many user reviews Does say on their site that one of the wtac rx7 used their product Or just go hypergear to stay on the safe side, and you get local support too Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451652-mambatek-turbochargers/#findComment-7442655 Share on other sites

XKLABA
I was under the impression the Kinugawa turbos are made by Kamak and these are the same just with different markings Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451652-mambatek-turbochargers/#findComment-7442853 Share on other sites
Ben C34
Having previously purchased from kinugawa i have recieved a spammy email from mamba stating he has started the new business, having sold kinugawa. If you believe spam that is. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/451652-mambatek-turbochargers/#findComment-7442868 Share on other sites
bugspl4t
if they are the same quality as kinugawa turbos, we may have a winner. being $400-$600 cheaper than garrett.still, i'd like to know if anyone has acutally used one yet before i go forking out 1k to get one.anyone else have more information on em? R31Nismoid
if they are the same quality as kinugawa turbos, we may have a winner. being $400-$600 cheaper than garrett. If the wheel spec - to - spec comparison is correct, the Garrett wheels are different sizes... So this copy turbo wouldn't perform the same way. Given the smaller wheel etc it would make less power. bugspl4t
hey guys i emailed the owner to get some more information.heres what i recievedHi, Yes. I was forced to sell kinugawa / kamak months ago and run a new brand MAMBA now. All the mamba turbo core will be balanced on our SCHENCK MBRS 110 and balance sheet will go with this turbo. Here is some information one of my customer left on his facebook when he received MAMBA turbo. That might be easier for you to know more mamba. https://www.facebook.com/andrew.holloway.9256?fref=photo anyway, let me know if there is anything we can help. Thanks. bugspl4t
I havent gotten any information on a dyno run as of yet. but i've been having a chat to him and apparently he had a problem in the company with a partner stealing parts to sell outside the company he says hes planning to make this company and quality better than kinugawa, the corespec is the same as a garrett turbo, while they use a NTN cermanic ball bearing system instead of the steel ball bearing.seems ok, might invest in it, if its as good as kinugawa turbos im probably gonna try one. they have warrenty. and its going on an rb20, which atleast if it pops it wont cost my much to replace. bugspl4t
So i recently ordered a GTX3071R Turbo kit from Mambatek on eBayPrice: $1200The kit came with:Mambatek GTX3071R (dual ball bearing, water and oil cooled)Braided line kit (Oil in, Oil Out, Both water lines)Braided line banjo fittings and nipplesMetal Exhaust Mani GasketVband clamp and flangesThe quality was mint when i pulled it out of the box. Spun perfectly, no shaft play what so ever. Came with a balance sheet from "Schnek" (have to check spelling on that one).Mocked it up today on my D1 Stable Steam Pipe High Mount Manifold. It sat great. looks great. excited to see what numbers it pulls from the tune.I've been talking to the owner of mambatek on facebook, and will be putting up a dyno run later. tbh, build quality seems even better than the kinugawas.will keep you all posted with dyno results.
