As per below link, is the TD for pure track use whereas the RS3 is more appropriate for the street and occasional track?

http://www.hankooktyre.com.au/Product/MotorsportTyreSemiSlick.aspx?pageNum=1&subNum=5&ChildNum=3

The TD is a dot complied track tyre, so while you "can" use it on the street it's not recommended, it even says so on the tyre :) " not recommended for street use "

As apposed to " not for highway use " or " track use only ", if the tyre has one of these two then they are illegal for street use

I'm getting tyres fitted tomorrow, rs3s!

I had a quick chat with the shop who supplied my wheels which are 18x9.5+22 and he said that 265/35/18 in the rs3 might rub, there is a small chance so I'll need to trial fit them first and if they do rub, I'll settle for 255/35/18.

Apparently the rs3 in a 265 looks like a 285, so I was told.

Anyone here running rs3 in 265 configuration on a r32gtr? My chances are narrow...

im running RS3 265x35x18 on my 32R, got it fitted on the weekend, previously running 255x35x18 PSS,

definitely not 285 wide, very small increase as far as I can tell visually, side walls on RS3 is more square looking than PSS, no rubbing or any other issue thus far although my guards are rolled

yes mate - rs3's as per above post :)

i am one of most indecisive ppl u will ever come across, i spend way too much time researching which just kills me at times & i often change directions unexpectably

Psh it'll fit easily.

I have 275/35/18 RS-3 on my 32R (18x10+20 wheels), will have to do some work to make the car drivable :P.

Reporting back with pricing:

Michelin PSS $1550

Hankook RS3 $1150

Nitto NT05 $840

PSS is out of the question due to price plus the RS3 seems to be the pick of the bunch, based on feedback.

NT05 is most appealing due to price and availability so the question I have is the RS3 that much better or are we splitting hairs? The extra $300 doesn't bother me...what would u guys go for, keeping in mind I'd be lucky to drive the car once a fortnight (sad huh)

Hey mate, where did you get that quote on the NT05s?

Import Monster (SAU Sponsor) as also moving a lot of Nitto stock lately, give them a bell for a price too and let them know you're a SAU'er - supporting sponsors keeps the forums alive :)

taleb dont have them in stock atm.

i trial fitted the 265s and they tuck in nice :)

i got the rs3's at an absolute steal @ $1 for the full set which included balancing & fitting...if anyone is interested in where i got them from, just let me know. actually, i better double check that the shop is ok with me advertising this rate.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
