Hey guys,

Time to rack everyone's brains!

I have been looking into a turbo upgrade recently for my GTT along with a few bits and pieces.. I have done a lot of research across the net, scoured through every possible thread on the forum trying to decide the way I want to go. Ideally I would like to keep the turbo set up low mounted with my factory manifold for the stealth look and keep that factoryish look with a black metal intake I will obviously have to fabricate. I already have a full exhaust from the 6 bolt JJR dump back to my kakimoto oval exhaust. I also want to run an internally gated setup.

I have looked into the HKS GTRS kits, hypergear range inc stao's highflow service, GCG highflow and the Garrett GT/GTX3076R

All of the above are a direct bolt on except for the garrett which I've found comes in a v-band or a 5 bolt rear. I was leaning towards the Garett's even though it meant changing/ fabricating the dump pipe.. I am aware the Garrett's need a 10 to 14 mm spacer aswell as it will foul on the factory manifold and also longer studs to get it bolted to the manifold. Thankyou research!

That was until I found this listing on ebay for a GT3076R which the seller has confirmed they are a direct fit and are a brand new unit with full factory warranty etc etc..For $100 extra the GTX variant can be provided.

My question to my fellow SAU'ers.. Has anyone ever come across these before? Do any of you own one of these? As much as there is the chance I will need longer studs and spacers to get it fitted what would be the odds of this being a " direct bolt on " as claimed?

Thanks Pete..

Well, it's obviously not a Garrett rear housing. They've knocked up a rear housing with Nissan dump flange and what would have to be enough extra length to push it away from the engine so it doesn't foul. That all sounds good.....but has anyone got any idea how good the profile in that housing is? Response? Power ceiling?

^^

Using this turbine housing shown on photo above. The GT3076 CHRA will be straggling to perform any thing 250rwkws or above. Which our standard high flow service can easily out perform, and cost you less then half of their listed price.

Do the highflow because everything will bolt in... Because all the bolts are in the same spot.

That said I have a gtx3076r on the std manifold without a spacer, but as mentioned its not got a Garrett rear housing.

Thankyou for the reply. So it seems it is a direct bolt on turbo! Do you mind me asking what power you are making and with what mods?

It's not really a bolt on turbo... Mine does NOT have a Garrett rear housing, it is a t3 with a vband rear on to a vband dump pipe.

I imagine due to that different rear housings is why I do not need a spacer.

I bought a similar "direct bolt on" Garrett from ebay. I got the GT2860RS version. It's possible I bought it off the same seller too, I'm not sure.

I tried installing it myself. It was direct bolt on, except for the oil and water lines. As said in their ad, you need to buy their line kit for extra $200

    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
    • That's one of the reasons I got that breed, they look weird, the other reasons are they small, they are very vocal, and run around like they are on crack, I didn't want a breed that just sits around, these two are like kids on red cordial  My daughter has one, and it's a laugh riot, constantly doing Parkour around the house, sits on her shoulder, plays catch, and constantly runs around the house taking turns chasing the dog around, her Bermese though, just lays around with constant bitch face, and just looks on in utter disgust at the cat and dog playing together
    • I'm getting PTSD flashbacks seeing that name again.  With my turbo swift, I got 1,500km of street use on a Jim Berry clutch before it exploded and took out my input shaft with it.
