Seeing as Yoshi is planning on using a nismo clutch plate with stock pressure plate and is worried about a few hundred bucks of higher registration costs, something tells me he won't be building an engine anytime soon .

Thats intresting. Rd20 I just got rid of one out of a laurel. Kml.:D I was woundering the same thing. But now its gone.

As for me mate i woulf do a rb26 swap the sky is the limit then. See for me after you pay to get them 3 numbers (what ever that is) lol. The 26 would be right there. So why stop. Plus I would figure just looking at videos that the race shops there have all kinds of gurus that deal with rb26 more than 25 or 20 for that matter. Funny cause I have had both motors and found that I like a 20 better than a 25 from a stock stand point. The 25 for me I broke ring landings at 24psi. Was lacking a bit of fuel tho. Who cares though. Lol. I took it to its limit to find the weakness. Next was a rb20 in a gts4 body. Same thing took it to lits limits and damaged the con rod bears on number one cylinder. These motor were all stock. And the rb20 was doing 26psi. Lacking fueling again. I feel all the failures upon wear down and looking back at the logs had nothing to do with fuel. Me personally I liked the 20 dont know why but I just do. I guess it might have been the 4wd platform.

Get a rb26 trust me. Live life with no regrets. Lol;)

FYP :)

costs is up to you ....no one can tell you how much to spend and on what ... so take that out of the equation really as you are askign about performance

I know you said 2.4L but i'll give you reference using 2.2L

I've had rb20 up to 380 hp, fully built everything rb 2.2 from 400hp to 550hp (didnt last long up there) and rb25 from 450hp to 550hp

the rb22 didnt even come close to the rb25 in terms of performance with exactly the same mods - extra displacement and vct

so I either suggest keeping your rb20 and have about 360hp or go rb25

how long did the RB25 last at 450hp plus just out of interest and was it track or street?

Ive been through 2 rb25's in 3 years (one just recently) ... about 18 months each Id say about 20+ish events each comps and prac's. 90% of time tuned at 500hp and 550nm

Track car - 95% drift and that is literally belting the crap out of them .. hard on limiter etc etc - prob push them a little too hard

Both times = bottom end bearings went

^^ as per my build thread rb25's have a few things done to them but not forged just cleaned up and good bolt ons and is on e85

26 psi? Did you have it tuned? Or did you just slap a big turbo on there? stock turbo? RB25 turbo?

Hmm, 26 wouldnt be bad but the average price for them are about 2500 american dollars and up. All of the yanks are getting them and they are being sold to the states alot now, the 25 year rule for cars are in effect for the R32 GTRS now. Prices for the car have shot up here at many places.

How did your rb20 drive and feel at those speeds? Responsive? Pig?

Lol, i keep reading this but am yet to see proof

RB26 FTW

Yeah, I just like to stir the pot ??

Trent at chequred recently tuned a neo with 26 throttle bodies on it. Was pretty sweet.

I have discovered 3rd gear in my car. I have discovered how well I can build up speed before going into 4th when on the street and high way. I am learning each day how to drive and use the car. I am understanding how to use the rpms better and how the rb20 likes to rev.

I dont know what hp I am at with my current mods, but my turbo seems to be fighting hard and doing well.

I have the EVC 5 and I have it set to 13.9 as the cut off. It cuts off at the psi, but somehow if I floor it, I always hit 15.7 psi. I am wondering if I have a freak turbo or if what I am experincing is normal.

I am learning how to drive into my upper rpms without going into boost. I am hitting bost around 2.5, 6 now and whenever I hit 4000 rpm (when boosting) my car just takes off and I am holding on.

So I am wondering what it will be like with a rb 25 turbo, the EVC, and later bigger fuel pump and injectors(if I get it tuned with the rb25 turbo before I get a bigger turbo.

I've got a 26/30 that is pretty sweet, what does that prove

How much of a 26 do you need to use to catch a 26, I'd try a whole 26 next time :P

Hmm. Don't know what to say to that....

    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
    • Well the articals keep saying a Q50s (Skyline in Japan) with a new Manual gearbox. I like the talk about the new looks with the round tail lights. I hope they bring back the retro look like they did with the Z
