ok went on a job in Texas for a bit. So the car sat for a few weeks. But I got some work done.

Did the brakes.

Looks a lot more clean. I think the car had original rotors and pads. The front could have been changed they had life on them....the rears were getting really close to metal lol.

Also got the oil cooler/relocation kit done.

I wish I would have tried to do an oil change first before buying this lol. It is no where near as hard to get to the stock filter as the internet makes it sound. If you have big forearms, I can see why. But if you are relatively small, try it first. It literally took 5 minutes to get off. That was because it was on pretty tight lol. Probably would have just got a sandwich plate and cooler if I knew that. But it works very well, temps definitely stay down.

Also got some more parts in. Forgot about these lol.

N1 brake air guides, these work really well with the factory undertray/ lip air guides.

Also got some new turbos. Figured I'd give these a shot. GCG hi flowed -7's.

they just go on the tension rod. I haven't put them on yet. Its just been rainy and cold here. I don't take the car out in bad weather. If you still have the factory duct work from the lip they work perfect. On standard GTR they just dump into the wheel well brake area with no further direction. These guides pick up perfectly where the ducts leave off and direct that air onto the rotor.

cool ill see if i can get them new. wouldnt mind a set

Yea I'm not sure if they are still available from Nissan. I don't think they are, but they could be. This guy just had them and never used them.

had the old tensioner squeel going on. Cold weather must of really got to it. It got pretty bad, started doing it at idle also. At first I thought it could be the fan, but it never went away no matter how warm I got the engine. Sounded like it was from the front cover, so I just assumed it was the tensioner. Glad I had all the stuff sitting around. Replaced water pump, idler, tensioner, spring, cam gears and timing belt. Wish I would of had a radiator and harmonic balancer lol. Perfect time to change.

out with the old, in with the new.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
