Hey guys. Haven't been in for awhile. The car sold in less then 24 hours lol. I was surprised. Got 6k which is fine by me. I've already put a deposit on an r33 gtst series 2. This one is registered haha not making that mistake again. And comes with a rwc. Car drives great. Only thing I noticed wax the idle was a bit up and down. Not too low. But from normal idle and went up about 500rpm or so. He said the acc valve probably needs a clean. He's going to show me how to do that. Really nice guy. Is there any other causes for it? The coil packs aren't the best, could they be a cause of idle? Let me know

Try get him to sort out the idle hunting b4 u pick the car up. Could be, dirty iacv, coolant sensor, air in cooling system, vacuum leaks, coil packs to name a few things. Have u had the car properly looked at and comp tested? Wouldn't want u to end up with another lemon:)

P.s everyone is a nice bloke when they're trying to sell u something.

I know but he seemed genuine. He mentioned that coil packs aren't good and that battery will need to be replaced eventually. Has stock bov on it. I haven't had the car properly looked at but it felt really good besides the miss firing when hard accelerating. But I have cool packs coming. Has an apexi power fc. Oh he said it hasn't been tuned since 2013 so will probably need a tune eventually. Everything else felt perfect. Really well looked after . gearbox and clutch were great too

These are the mods in the car.

3inch custom turbo back exhaust

HKS GT-RS turbo

Nismo 550cc injectors

Nismo fuel pump

Blitz return flow intercooler

Apexi power fc

Apexi pod filter

Drift catch can

Greddy sm integrate gauges (boost, oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, fuel pressure)

Greddy EBC

Bride drivers seat

Pedal covers

Apexi front strut brace

Nissan rear strut brace

Hks hypermax 3 coil overs

Hicas lock bar

Dtm 18 inch rims

DBA slotted front and rear discs

Qfm a1rm brake pads braided brake lines

I'm not going to lie I do take risks if it's a calculated risk. I am learning as I go. I know a decent amount more then I did a month ago. From what I was reading misfiring could be due to low compression, not enough fuel pressure, coil packs etc. Does have be more worried now so I'll ask him if he's done a compression test and ask i I can do one before I pay for it. If compression is good I'll probably just go ahead and take the risk

Look what happen to your last car mate, it was a dud, props for trying to sort it out but you lost $$$ doing it, buy a car that has no problems that you can just hop in and enjoy

it was tuned at RE customs in 2013.

i have some interesting news. i bought the car. compression was all good. now for the bad part. on my way home on the free way in heavy traffic the front left tyre went out and i couldnt get over to the left lane to pull over for a bit and the tyre ended up shredding and rolling on the rim for a good 200 metres i'd say. the tyres looked good so im not sure wtf happened. maybe re treads ?

scared shit out of me at 100 kmh. pulled over to the side of the road eventually. ended up threading 2 of the wheel nuts ( actually i think it was the tool to get the nuts off ) so i told the guy and he and his g/f rushed down to help out but he couldnt get it off either so they called racv and had it towed to mine for me for free. the other tyres look brand new so im really not sure what happened. anywhooo after that long and freezing nightmare i got it home safetly. got racv to get the wheel of this morning. i think the rim might be too damaged now :( but i have spare r34 gtt wheels. i think i need a spaced though cause i have a feeling its hitting the brake calliper just ever so slightly.hear a little clicking noise on that side.

so anyway i put in some yellow jacket coil plugs and its not misfiring at all now . its very very smooth and it go's hard !! the idle is a bit off though. go's up and down about 100rpm. never too low though. car starts perfect with the new battery in it too. so minus the scary beginnings im quite pleased with it :D

new spark plugs arrived right after i put the coil packs in lmao i couldnt wait. so i'll do all that tomorrow and change oil, filters etc. OHHH and im going to attempt to take the aac valve out and clean it.been reading the DIY on these forums

here's a little video of me driving it around. didnt want to speed so kept it mostly under the limit besides a few quick bursts lol. only went full throttle twice since it was right after i changed coil packs and was a bit worried it would still be misfiring badly

oh and the noises that sound like grinding gears is just stuff rolling around in the boot lol phone picked it up really loud i didnt even notice it when driving

i've got one lined up mate lol they're letting me know in a few weeks. fingers crossed !! every job i went for said i needed my own transport. so i got it :) not that this matters on a car forum ?

i kind of like working actually lol i've been doing odd jobs every now and then where i can get a lift to it lol would love to have some extra cash that i can waste on my new car :P suppose i should spend some one my fiance too...

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
