I am building a Silvia s14a, so hopfully will have a lap time up soon.

Was great fun throwing a GTR around although my 'stocky' doesn't handle as well as a well sorted example. The well sorted Evo's and Rex's did well as expected but the difference was 2s between me and 1st place (sorted Evo 8 I think) so not huge.

See in car vids of my runs here:

Ahhh, whats a baseline time? I didn't have the stereo pumpin if that's what you mean? I'm putting the better time down to my running a massive hangover and 3 hours sleep, witness the Dutton Sandown effort for prior evidence of that :D, although, even though I was very "relaxed" in the car, I failed to stay absolutely flat out under Dunlop bridge :[

There's been no change to the car save for a tune which has made it a little more linear in it's power delivery, same old bald and blued Dunlop 02G's, no alignment or setup changes yet.

I can't wait to throw your green bits in it, but figured there wasn't much point rushing and changing it until I can directly compare it on the same track, which means either visiting Morgan Park for a weekend or waiting until Lakeside opens again.

Giant and I will give it a good alignment and corner wieght as soon as we both have time, and will likely setup your green hornets for installation at the same time. :(

SM Motorsport GTR

Driver: Sam Markov

Date: 24.10.2008

Winton lap time: 1.28.30 (max speed 215kph)

More to come as still unhappy with suspension and down about 30 rwkw

WOW, that's an awesome effort, that's flyyying...

What tyres were used?

That max speed is about 15km/hr up on what I can run there. Be good to know where that extra speed comes from - whether its corner exit speed, grunt, weight or a mixture of all of them.

I think its pretty safe to say its a mixture of them all, even though he was down 30rwkw at the time. If you really want to know, give him a call. I think it is also pretty safe to say that there is still quite a bit in it.....possibly another couple of seconds. Now I know some people may laugh at that, but they qoviosly dont know Sam. He was actually quite dissapointed with the car on the day.

So are you gonna tell us what tyres he used or is that a secret?

No secret............will be sure to post it up when i find out, other matters were more pressing at the time of conversation .

Regardless, all tyres he currently uses are capable of those times within a second or so of each other. There are quite a few more factors to take into account with this car that are a bigger contribution to those times.

I just came back from Winton today. After looking at the times you guys are posting for the long track I am going home with my tail between my legs. :yucky:

Gotta get me some slicks for my road car :P, and finish the track car ASAP

New PB for me at Sandown today - 1.21.2

Was a the Holden Sporting Car Club / Ford Four Car Club Sprints

Alot of varying speeds in my group would be a large understatement.

A bit of battle scarring too. Another GT-R there caught fire unfortunately, no one injured more importantly.

Some footage

    • How much have you lowered?  I had 350Z springs in the rear and was able to pull the camber into factory spec with the factory arms on the rear, obviously the front ran negative camber as it isn't adjustable, but rotating the wheels regularly evened out the wear.
    • Either the installer needs to come back, you need an auto electrician, or you need to learn automotive electricals yourself.   First step Id look at is where that big thing came out of, is there still things unplugged at that location? Maybe they just forgot to put a relay in or something?
    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
