Is that not part of the conversation though?

The status of classic that is.

We all probably agree the Z tune is a classic and that rare examples like N1, 400R, etc will hold some value, but it's not like all XYs are worth 150k.

Likewise I don't see ALL GT-R's skyrocketing, and holding, that value.

On the contrary.

Flow on.

All GTR's will skyrocket in price. Just some more than others.

As for holding value possibly, possibly not. I'd say the rare ones will, but the normal ones will drop off a bit after peaking. But eh. Sell before that happens lol

You'll thank yourself later.

Just get a 33R. And you'll get 50% less wanker factor with purchase.

I'd love an R33 GT-R, I think they look cool (pumped guards FTW), plus Gran Turismo memories. They are also better engineered. But R34 is the dream car, now it's at dream prices sigh.

Anyone wanna swap R32 for R33? lol

Buy nice R31 GTS R, apart from the R32 GTR that would be a nice Skyline to hold on to with the view of making a few bucks in the future, or at least not lose 50% of the cost price.

Much safer bet if you ask me, there may be a demand now hence the inflated prices, what happens in 5 or 10 years, I wouldn't buy a 34 as a investment, yes its the most advanced Skyline GTR but being the most advanced or last model doesn't mean its a worth while investment, a car needs history.

Ask any modern fan boys about their cars, Honda S200, Toyota GT4, Mazda RX7, Subaru 22B, Falcondoore VLXRSS8, every one says their cars will be collectable.

Anyways, keep up the good work.

Disclaimer: I could never keep a car nice enough to be classed as investment quality, some smart bugger once said something like, "Not driving your car is like not sleeping with your girl so she is more desirable to the next guy".

LOL, cars as investments, good luck with that.

If you can buy a car that is not loosing money , you are way ahead :)

I spent heaps on mine, but it looks and drives the way I want it, worth every cent!

Cars not much use if you do not drive it, BUT I like the idea of being the next guy :)

With respect, I would disagree with some of your statement.

The 34R DOES have history. Not as much as the 32R in terms of racing pedigree, but more so in Pop Culture.

Look at the major brands who have succesfully made an impact in Pop Culture.

Aston Martin and James Bond

Toyota 2000GT in James Bond

Trans Am in Mad Max

Dodge Charge in Dukes of Hazard

Deloreon in Back to the future

AND

R34 from Fast and Furious.

These cars are worth money in part because of Pop Culture. This will add value in years to come.

I'd like to see a mad Holden Bommodore that is globally recognised in Pop Culture. It's only the Aussie/NZ market that really know about them.

Let him go. Structured reasoning and numbers sometime don't work with some people. :)

Conjecture on the other hand....

A world famous car with only 12,000 ever produced going up in price. Crazy talk. Buy an R31. You'll be a millionaire.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
