Quiltrak were in administration. July 22/23 they had a creditors meeting that was to resolve outstanding debts.

The company continues to function (tracking etc).

Would I spend $2000+ on a Quiktrak unit??? Not till I see where they head.

Could also be argued that there are better systems on the market now.

Like what, if I could ask? I'm quite interested in the QuikTrak style of system, so any other systems like that would be something I'd look at. :)

Walu - I agree about $2k on a system for a company that are in administration.

I'd like to know what those arguements are also however. I've only heard of ming and car watch (and I think car watch is a quiktrac product?)

Also all other systems are satellite aren't they?

Please let us know walu

Alternate suppliers - plenty of fly-by-nighters that won't be here 12 months from now (my experience from looking into this stuff 4 years ago). We have been looking at a product from Thales-Telematics for our industrial equipment. Communications to security station is via the mobile phone network, but the vehicles are actually tracked by satellite. They have their own back to base system similar to Quiktrak. I did come across other systems that were cheaper but alarmed back to your mobile if something was wrong with your equipment/car, then you would have to sort it out.

Trouble with Quiktrak is that they run their own towers, which is great for security, and they can have more control on tracking parameters, but they have more holes in the tracking network because of this, than do the other systems using mobile phone tower/satellite.

We looked into many systems about 4 years ago, and the satellite stuff was about $5000 then. Much cheaper now, and about the same price as a Quiktrak.

Call Just Cars a couple of times and take their best quote. Then say another company has offered you a better price by ~$500.00 and they should match it.

But I don't understand Just Cars. I was quoted less to comprehensively insure an R34 GTR than an R33 GTS-25t.

My R33 GTS-25t isn't my daily driver, so I don't have it comprehensively insured. If I still have it in three years, I'll spend the money I saved by not insuring it to buy a second one. Then I can race/fight them.

It's not worth paying $5,000.00 when you have to do $7,500.00 damage in your first year just to break even.

That's it P1E. I'm over it. I ain't getting insurance. I thought I wouldn't get a skyline but I'm in love too much ha gotta get one regardless :P

Walu - My only worry bout satellite tracking stuff was line-of-site. That's why I like the technology of quik trak.

It would suck if they went bust. I don't know why insurance companies chip in to save it. I mean even if car makers did- imagine all of a sudden all beamers and mercos come standard with quik trak. I mean that would save them bundles.

Oh well logic goes out the window if it has tits or wheels i guess. (in the best possible way ladies).

O_o
