Are you in NZ? I am sure it can be done in Aussie as long as you are willing to pay big money for it. The closest I have seen in NZ is this add-on system that you can find on trademe but it's costs $1600 to install plus another $200 if you want usb connection!

Sounds abit too much in my opinion.

How are you doing?
May we know if you have a plan to change your Japanese navigation unit now?

this looks like the add on boxes out of china. so its not a fully integrated solution by the look of it.

the later cars need a main controller and buttons from a Q60. job done.

Yeah you can see in the photos its running Android (which is pretty cool in its own right), probably with a hardware screen overlay to intercept screen touch

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a 2008 nissan skyline 370gt v36. It's an import with navigation system and stuff in Japanese. That's fine, but since I have never owned an import car before, I would like to know if spares are readily available in WA? Or in the eastern states? Anyone does language conversion in WA? I've read about xanavi but is it worth it?  I'm getting an inspection report done as well. Anything I should keep in mind when I go have a second look and drive? Your advice and help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I know the thread is old but If anyone is interested I live in Palmerston North New Zealand and can change the Instrument cluster from Japanese to English in about 1Hour for cheap but am yet to work on the media display (nav). Or if I'm busy there is this guy at https://www.navi-solutions.com/ who can do dash and nav systems.

Hi Chris, I'm not sure if you're still around, but I thought I'd try my luck! I also tried to message you, but I'm not sure that worked.

Anyway, I'm sorry to bother you, I'm sure you get hassled a lot about this stuff. I'm just 'getting my ducks in a row' before I import myself a 370GT from Japan (I'm a kiwi so it's not a huge drama luckily). I'm one of those OCD people who is relatively bothered by having a Japanese radio/cd/navi system, and usually sort this out on my vehicles as soon as I get them. I'm an electrical service tech (amongst other things) so am pretty handy with a multimeter etc. However, it looks like most of these cars are a bit of a step up in terms of radio/cd/navi system complexity, and level of integration into the vehicle. I know much of a difference actual experience with particular complex systems makes when carrying out work on them, and it sounds like you are one of the most experienced guys around when it comes to this particular topic.

So I have scrounged around the internet and have come up with a few pearls of wisdom - mostly from you. These are:

(1) Cars with the basic (non navi system), like the car linked in the Trademe ad below, can be retro fitted with either a local market 370z system (box and keypad), or the same system (buttons reversed) from a USDM G37 (I have bookmarked the page where kindly provide the part numbers). This goes for early cars (2007 on), as well as later iterations.

(2) The other option is to buy a later car (can be navi or non-navi), and retrofit an equivalent system from a USDM Q60.

My questions are:

-With regard to (1), do I have this correct?

-And with (2), are the later cars you refer to the 2010 and onward facelift versions (visually; a revised centre console and some interior material changes etc.), or some later version again, like after 2012 for instance.

Thanks heaps for your help! :)

Kind regards, Claire

please refer to my post below

Also if you cant find these listed on ebay or their website is down,. Google Phoenix Automotive (in USA) And buy their "tesla Style screen" for G37. They work on RHD cars.

Those are your only options.

Cheers Dashyy,

i will hit these guys up.

:)

On AliExpress there are a couple of companies selling a complete replacement for the center unit, with an Android media system in it.

I haven't tried one yet, they are designed for the Infiniti in the US, the only suggestions I have seen so far is that the side camera interface may have a different voltage.

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
