Coullsy
That's a fantastic idea, definitely a lot safer and more controlled then the PIT, but the non tethered style is a bit questionable Edited November 15, 2016 by Coullsy Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/467751-the-police-pursuit-grappler/#findComment-7791707 Share on other sites

Just dangerous, causing a rear wheel lock? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/467751-the-police-pursuit-grappler/#findComment-7791713 Share on other sites
Coullsy
At high speed, a single wheel lock with an inexperienced driver, the chances of the car spearing off into other traffic would be quite high Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/467751-the-police-pursuit-grappler/#findComment-7791732 Share on other sites
Spressy
true, but at high speed you pretty much are waiting for the guy to screw up, unless you want to do a PIT at 120+ km/h.... Police round here tend to give up on chases before anybody gets hurt. I'm not an expert enough to have an opinion on what is the better approach. tridentt150v
Open season for all licenced shotgun or western action participants is the best approach................but I don't think the government will go for it!!! I think here in VIC there was talk of abandoning pursuits all together as a matter of safety. There was a bit of an uproar at the time, so I don't know if it was actually happened... From memory there were a couple of serious incidents (crashes) that involved innocent 3rd parties so VicPol were looking to minimise this chance.
