Waiting to fit one of these NZ cam triggers to the white 32. I see your post on the Haltech forum when you were having problems getting it to work. I take it the problem was they were sending the sensor out pinned to the cam signal instead of crank correct ?

Even if I drive it once a week, I still add in that additive. So far (past motors, setups, etc.) I've never had injectors gum up or seize, so it might work? (Or it's a scam and I'm donating money to the Lucas Oil execs)

It was initially pinned wrong by NZ Wiring then as I was troubleshooting, Haltech support advised to feed the reluctor 5V power, which is actually incorrect.

The reluctor actually generates it's own voltage. 

I will confirm how I've wired it in a bit. Actually can't remember right now lol.

I got mine after @Dose Pipe Sutututu and had no issues with the pinning of it so may have a been an early issue or someone was a bit lazy that day. 
Cheers for posting the arming voltage too as mine takes a few goes to fire on first crank. Fuel and timing haven't helped so will try this.

You use a link right ? The link you can reassign the cam signal cable to actually be the crank reference signal. On an Elite you can't as it is a fixed pin on the ECU, so they were sending them out preconfigured for link wiring on cas wiring pins 1 and 3.

Yes a reluctor generates its own voltage. Can't believe Haltech told you to supply it 5v !

From what I can see the neg reluctor side needs to be pinned to ground and the pos side signal output pinned to the Elite TRIGGER +, so on a cas loom that would be the 2 outside pins 1 and 4.

The way NZ wiring is sending them out appears that they are pinning the signal to the HOME + which will never work on an Elite unless you swap the pins at the ECU end which you don't need to do.

Okay so some slight digging, you essentially pin it to GND and Trigger 1 (Link ECU reference). Trigger 2 is unused, I suspect that's the home signal.

12V is unused in this instance.

 

@robbo_rb180 got mine to start first go yesterday, but it does need a fair amount of cranking. I suspect it "might" want more fuel on crank.

I also went to town with the pulse prime, get those runners nice and moist when it's cold lol

Also tried adding more timing on crank, I think it makes it a bit harder to crank, will drop it all to 0s this week and try again

That's the problem for the Haltech that they pin it to Trigger 1, which is actually your home + reference in physical wiring. This needs to be pinned to trigger 2 in the above diagram which is physically crank trigger position +.

just FYI, these are my wiring notes:

Elite 2500 wiring:

pin B1 = trigger + (black wire on sensor)

pin B5 = trigger - (white wire on sensor)

I also checked this with Scott from Haltech..

is this how you have it?

B5 Trigger - is not pinned from the rb Elite patch loom to the engine harness, but shouldn't matter as the ground wire on the cas loom is also a common signal ground which is also what the Link uses as its signal ground. The engine position should only need to be referenced onto B1 Trigger + so no ECU repining needs to be done.

Ah, sorry I am using one of their terminated harnesses. I checked continuity with multimeter back to the ECU pins to confirm they are connected

Just went to take a photo, I'm colour blind too so can't really tell what the 4th wire is, it's blue and something? LOL..

I'm using 1st wire as sensor GND and the 3rd wire (which is covered in heat shrink) as Trigger.

And yes, I should re-terminate that plug, I have a spare one to go on too - just forgotten about it.

At least I’m not the only one they color blind, going to make it a nightmare wiring the engine up when the time comes lol

When I used to do quite a bit of wiring (when I was younger, didn't have back pain and had plenty of spare time) I would actually take photos and send it to my girlfriend at the time (wife now) and ask her what the colours were LOLOLOL.

That’s basically my plan, every time I cant work it out I’ll get my mrs to tell me what it is

    • Wanna rewrite all of that in, say, 2 or 3 separate sentences, so that we can read it?
    • Just yesterday the car started to shake a bit when idle. So tomorrow ima test the some wires and packs with the multimeter and see what it is. Hopefully is a pack because thats the easiest thing to buy same day here where I live in the USA.
    • shot myself in the leg and now last night I have shaking when I idle lol
    • I'm not a big fan of the Cometic gaskets either, as above the head and deck need to be like a mirror (can't remember the RA) so Kamieri sounds like a good idea.  FWIW a mate of mine hordes old motor stuff and has some blank unground Nizmo cams for one of these in his supply if random shit if you're interested.
