Getrag Parts Discontinued?

I'm being told certain parts for the Getrag are now discontinued?

Specifically, award are telling me they cannot get a 3rd gear synchro and 3rd/4th selector hub.

Anyone got a lead on these parts or at least the part numbers?

These guys do rebuild kits for R34:

http://www.ag-y.com/

Auto Gallery Yokohama gearsets (rebuilt boxes).

yes there are upgraded synchro boxes available. I have one in my 32. made by auto gallery yokohama (Koizumi)

it's a good box. i've used it for about 5 years with no drama.

you can do a mix of the OS box and AGY bits.

DJR81, they have their own double cone synchros. they also do various different close ratio gear sets too just like OS Giken.

they do a nice transfer case overhaul too.

ratio choice:

version 1

= ,611
=,733
=,289
=,000
=,752

OR (standard ratios I think?):

1 3,214
2 1,925
3 1,302
4 1,000
5 0,752

They have some optional 5th gear choices too:

5 0,842
5 0,826
5 0,800

version 2 close ratio box is:

1 1,903
2 1,476
3 1,186
4 1,000
choice of the 3 above.

So I found a place in the Netherlands with new old stock of Toyota V160 parts, same thing different packet.

I was willing to buy all 3 hub and sleeve assemblies but he will not sell those without selling a full synchro kit, and I mean full synchro kit not just liners etc.

He's charging a premium naturally (circa 3k delivered) so I'm going to sit on it and wait til Jacks completes their revised 3-4 assembly and buy all my bits through them at more reasonable prices (under 2k and improved/revised hub/sleeve combo and carbon liners for 1-4.

Hi Dan, how did you go with this? Did jacks end up getting back to you?

Also any particular reason why you are changing the selector hub aswell?

Thank you,

jono

They are expecting finished 3/4 hubs hopefully this month.

Award said if it ever pops out of gear thats the selector and I thought if already paying for labour to remove is might as well just do all synchros and hub/sleeves and be done with it.

That said, new fluid and Nismo trans mount has made a solkd difference so this will be on the back burner while I finish other bits I wanted first (cams and springs mainly).
i have  a complete getrag box with twin plate clutch i could  consider selling for the right price
only thing needed to do conversion into 32/33 GTR is a tail shaft

PM me details, last one I saw was drug money and I see no reason for that when a rebuild isn't "that" expensive, but can't hurt to talk :)

Could be handy to do a swap, then build the other one the side though.

Did you hear anything about these Dan? They sound too good to be true...

Dan, I'm interested in what sort of abuse, if any, you put your Getrag through for the 3rd syncro 3/4 selector hub needing replacing?

Normal wear/tear or

Bcos race car ?

Update

No idea, I've done 1000ks in the car in 18mths.

I just noticed that on a few WOT changes between 2nd and 3rd that 3rd was hard to engage and on a couple of occasions it popped out of gear.

Award told me it will need Synchros and a 3-4 hub and sleeve to remedy those issues and also to try a better trans mount and fluid (which helped).

I'm also known for being a bit picky with that sort of stuff so by other peoples standards it might be "fine".

The clutch could also be a component of the engagement issue as heat seems to be a factor.

    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
