93R33gtst
Nistune or aftermarket ecu?? Hey guys just wanting to get my car tuned and i have a standard ecu. From what ive researched im at a stage of either buying an apexi ecu or getting a nistune done and im just wondering who has either one on an r33 and which would be better. Cheers in advance Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/ Share on other sites
hardsteppa
well ...what the budget? If there isn't one and money's no object, go something better. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817060 Share on other sites
KiwiRS4T
Nistune would be better of the two but you can't fit it to an R33 ECU so you need to get around that and provide a trigger for the VCT. Google for how to or get on the Nistune website. Better but more expensive would be a Link. But first check with your tuner that he can tune your ecu of choice. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817088 Share on other sites
93R33gtst
Great im obviously out of my depth as i thought the nistune was for an r33 ecu. Money isnt an issue as long as its worth it in the long run. I thought it was gonna be as simple as plug in then tune then dust hands n happy days lol. Turns out im the simple one. 89CAL
Ask/pick a tuner and ask what they tune. I'd recommend Link if money is no object and you have a tuner that is capable of tuning itNistune is fine. Link can be pretty much plug and play if that sounds easierPower FC is fine if its just a street car and you understand they are a bit dated. They are truly plug and play but not alot of features when compared to most others out there 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817098 Share on other sites
93R33gtst
I was looking into getting power fc i didnt know they were dated i thought they were bees knees when it came to it...... this is my first turbo car and im learning so much i just want it to have a bit more balls lol and to make it run a fair bit smoother Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817099 Share on other sites
93R33gtst
Is it an NGTR+ link i seen that just now and read up on it and that seems perfect Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817101 Share on other sites
89CAL
Don't get me wrong, a Power FC will make your car quicker, but one day you might want to run E85 or maybe a MAP sensor and you wont be able toDepends what your future goals are really Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817104 Share on other sites

MagicMikeZ32
IMO, nistune is by far the best value for money/features around. But it depends on what your ultimate plans are. I ran over 600hp on pump fuel with nistune. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817209 Share on other sites
anthonymcgrath
I've run 3 link g4 on three different skylines including my current 32gtr and been super happy with those. Solid boost control, improved driving, no AFMs (MAF over there?) and improved mpg. Love em personally. 89CAL
Must have lost my reply when they had server dramasIt is your HICAS ECU.I had the same issue. Power steering would work fine first thing then next time I started the car (when it had sat for half an hour or an hour or so) power steering heavy Changed the HICAS ECU and never had a drama since. Quite possible that it is just a resistor/diode/capacitor etc that is faulty in the unit but a second hand one only cost me $50 from memory so just went with that Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469585-nistune-or-aftermarket-ecu/#findComment-7817586 Share on other sites
