R32 GTR?

Hi all, I was an active member here 10 years ago, had an R32 GTR, loved that car, did basic bolt on mods, made 300awkw, best car I've ever owned! Got a good offer on it so let it go, i know the new owner, he took it straight to CRD and threw 20k at it. Got a proper built motor now, anyway, I've been cruising around in a supercharged LS3 R8, it goes well with bucket loads of torque in the lower rev range but doesn't have that same 'rush' you get from a well tuned GTR ?

So ive been trolling car sales looking st what's around and keeping an eye on prices. Ideally I'd like to get back into a 32, I liked the GUN metal grey one in ACT but it's sold.

Anyway I'll be keeping an eye on the for sale section on here!

Thanks short circuit, I'm going to the GTR festival tomorrow going to have a look around and will make a decision if I'm going to 100% commit to this. I just got access to my old account and going through the threads I forgot how often I was fixing things on the car.
But still for me it's the best drivers car I have driven and I really miss it. A couple of mates also just got back into GTR's one bought a 32 and the other got a 34, now I want back the in. If I go ahead my budget will be 35-40k so should be able to pick up a reasonable 32 for that money.
There was one on Carsales, a grey 32 that was built by racepace, but it's sold, that's what I want, hopefully next time something pops up I'll be in a position to buy.

  • 1 month later...

Well, I found a car and brought it home last week. I think it's the best purchase I have ever made, I absolutely love this thing. It's a 1992 R32 GTR which has had a 26/30 conversion and was built with quality parts, the car has been put together exceptionally well and drives like a dream, and to top this off I have almost enough spares to build another car. I have been putting together a list of what I intend to do which is why I started this thread, it's not really a build though more a 'adding my personal touch' to the car. It started today with a thorougher clean, wash and hit with polish, I was going to also wax but I'm not quite happy yet so will add another couple of coats to really smooth off the finish before I wax it.
It did though come up a treat and looks magnificent. I'll add my list later in the thread as I'm going to go and stare at it now [emoji16]

Once I had the $$ it was full steam ahead, couldn't stand the empty space in my life and garage [emoji16]
I kept a diary of all the cars I enquired/looked at, it's actually quite a long list. But couldn't be happier with my purchase.

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
