Hi everyone, pleasure to meet any and all of you!
Yesterday I purchased an R32 GTS-T and drove it to Adelaide from Sydney.. on the way back in I went to get the ID check done, got defected for 3 minor things :(
Until they are fixed I can't transfer the rego into my name within the state, thus the car is unregistered..

I have a UVP till Monday (2nd Dec)

I have little to no friends, maybe one in the JDM game..
Any help on who to take the car to and where to get parts / meeting new people would be fantastic ❤️

Here's the car, and here's the little devil notice lol
TLDR; the defects are:
Window Tint too dark

RHS "A" Pillar Gauges
HID Headlights

am hoping I can just change the globes on the lights.
apparently I can't just remove the gauges and have it open so need to locate a RHS stock "A" Pillar interior trim
and I really don't care about the tint, I don't use my phone or have anything to hide.. if anyone is a genius when it comes to removing it ❤️

Nice car, the blue looks great!

Where did you go for the ID check? Hopefully nothing too major to fix by the looks of it, should be able to do the lights. When I had to do my tint for inspection I went to a tint place and they removed the old one (which let me go through the inspection) and then put new - legal stuff on afterwards, all for the same price, i.e. let me do it over 2 visits to them. I am sure many places would do the same.

As for the gauge/pillar I guess a Japanese wrecker/workshop place, depending on where you are in Adelaide there are different shops.

Thanks mate! I really like the blue, have seen a few in this colour, unsure if its factory though I have my doubts.

Went to the Lonsdale ID Inspection centre, tried to avoid Regency at all costs ?
Yeah lights seem simple enough, have done it to plenty of shitty cars I've owned in the past but might just pay an auto-electrician as there's a few other things I could get them to do as well as the lights.

I'll get some quotes on the tint, been told about 200$ for removal and new tint applied

I've checked most wreckers / jap wreckers in adelaide, not a single pillar to be found, I assume because everyone in SA has the same issue ?

I'm not sure how the SA system works, but to get around this with my car, I removed the gauge holder/cover thingy (plastic clip on item holds three guages), removed the A-Pillar trim.

Then removed the gauges completely from the car. Taped the wires to the inside of the A-Pillar trim, left the small 15mm holes exposed (but now wires visible).
Car was roadworthy/registered without a problem. I then simply re-installed everything a week later.

Like I say though, i'm not sure how thorough they are in your state, nor if they allow the holes in the A-pillar trim. But good luck, hope it's not too much of a headache.

I think the problem might be that he doesn't have the original A pillar trim, because some arsehat replaced it with one of those "complete replacement carbon fibre vtec yo" gauge holders.....and lost/got rid of the original. Nearly as bad as drilling holes in the original to fit one of the stupid screw on things.

'sif you need f**king gauges on the A pillar anyway.

No offence intended Steve.

Thankyou guys so much - yeah they are really anal here in SA - apparently I wouldn't get away with having holes drilled in a regular one because they assume when I leave there I will just reinstall the gauges. I don't care for the gauges I just want to be able to drive the car on the roads.. and yes the current pillar is a huge one with the gauges fitting into moulds, not just drilled into the pillar.. and no original pillar to go with it.
The one you linked is the go, thankyou GTSBoy!! I'll just phone him tomorrow morning and ask if I can come collect it :)
You guys are champions, thankyou!!

    • don't do. Fricken typos. Make me look like the sheeple.
    • I could show you guys photos of wrap having been removed properly, and where the wrap was removed, paint underneath is perfect. Sections of the vehicle didn't have wrap on it, and in those areas, the paint work is destroyed because of how long it had been sitting in the hot QLD sun for many many many years. Wrap even still looked decent. Good quality wrap, and removing it properly shouldn't rip off the paint work, unless the paintwork was already shot to pieces before hand.
    • Any write ups on replacing the window motor?  I've never messed with them (or window regulators) before.   Ever since I've had the car, the driver window would roll down just fine, but most often I'd have the try a few times to get it to go up.  As soon as it started to go up, it always goes up smoothly and quietly.  Seemed like a bad switch.  But now, its stuck in the fully down position and won't come back up.  I get =12/-12V coming out of the relay/amp when pressing the switch up/down.  So the switch and amp are working.  Just a bad motor.  I've also applied 12V directly to the motor and nada.   Any help on replacing the motor?  Can the glass and regulator stay in, and only replace the motor?  Or not possible?  Thanks!!!
    • You are wrong. That's just Whiteline going along with the incorrect slanguage of the sheeple userbase. They are only correctly known as anti-roll bars. They are only incorrectly known as swaybars. They do do anything to prevent "sway". The swaybars that are fitted to trailler hitches do prevent sway. In the trailer. And they do not look like anti-roll bars. So, take your incorrect infopinion away.
