  1. Good day guys, so I've finished doing a couple of mods on my RB20DET GTS-T, got a base map put on to my Nistune ECU and now unfortunately on idle it blows smoke out like crazy. It was smoking slightly before i pulled everything apart but I had thought it was the turbo seals hence why i replaced the turbo and a few other things. 4" Straight through exhaust doesn't help either I can imagine. Symptoms include on start up generally after about 15-20 seconds she starts to smoke white clouds, as she warms up the smoke intensifies. I've done a compression test this morning and the results followed from cam cover to firewall, 150/140/145/145/150/150 PSI. I am leaning towards maybe the head gasket might have a crack in it or blown. But not enough evidence points towards this maybe?, No mixing of oil and water within the engine, I can say she's taking a bit of water not from the radiator but from the overflow tank. I don't mind pulling off the head to do a head gasket but bloody annoying since i just put the dam thing back together and thought it was ready for a dyno tune. I have ordered a leak down tester tool just waiting for that to come in, but welcome to any suggestions and theories or experience from you fellow members all input is appreciated cheers guys!
  2. selling my 1992 r32 skyline, need the cash to travel and moving to a island when i get back so no real point keeping it, although it will be missed. its had a bit of work done to it nothing internal all bolt ons but still goes alright with a super clean look to it. Just finished putting in a imported engine, still rb20 but only done 110,000 on the engine itself the car has (will put up tomorrow) but haven't had anything major happen to it other than the alternator which is now a rb25. bit of damage on drivers door from a hit and run was so devastated when i found what had happened. i'll cut it sort to what mods it has and cons. rego: KKR 430 turbo turbosmart eboost2 blitz ecu chip simens injectors billet twin feed fuel rail saed fuel reg.   3. hi guys, im new to the forum so this would be my first post. I am currently 17 and not too far off of getting my p's, I have a general love for my skylines especially the r34 4 door gtr. I have been set on an r32 gts-t 4 door for a while now seeing as the laws have changed to nearlly the same as queensland's here in victoria. The Vicroads website states that: "If your probationary licence was issued on or after 1 July 2007, you can drive some lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicles. The definition of a lower performance turbocharged or supercharged vehicle is a vehicle with six cylinders or less that is: turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio of less than 100kW per tonne turbocharged or supercharged with a power to weight ratio between 100kW and 125kW per tonne and that is considered to be a family type vehicle (four seats or more) rather than a sports type vehicle. A family type vehicle is a sedan, station wagon or hatch normally used to carry families/passengers with four or more seats and is equipped with child restraint anchorages. A family type vehicle does not include a sports car (two door coupe)." Now... i got a phone call this morning from a lady from vicroads exemptions. She basically assumed i was some dick head p plater who just wants a fully sick turbo. She was rude and was set on telling me no i could not drive a 4 door r32 gts-t. I am confused because the r32 gts-t weighs 1,300kgs and makes 158rwk. 158/1300 = 121kw/tonne which falls bellow what vicroads states is required to drive a 4 door turbo charged vehicle. She said i can apply for an exemption aslong as i have some sort of "un-due hardship" that requires me to drive this vehicle. I wanted the gts-t so that i didnt have to sell it as soon as i was off my p's, Not to mention the n/a models cost more. I am tempted to send another letter and hopefully get someone a little more polite and not as ignorent to call me back. Ive heard of people applying for exemptions for the gts-t without undue hardship and just stateing that it falls below what the vicroads website states. Have any of you guys done this? im just looking for some solid info because as much as i love the gts-t im not going to risk my license to drive it. thanks guys.

  5. Okay so first off hello. I'd like to begin this Build buy giving you a little history, before this I owned a 99 Subaru Forester, which started fairly stock N/A manual. The motor blew In that so I bought a wrx sti halfcut and transplanted that, plus a whole lot more. I then Sold that an purchased myself a very rough N/A R32 RB20DE Neo Had some nice extras (Genuine Nardi, Factory Cupholders) I then got into my first car accident and destroyed it. The reason theres no "Before" shot of this beauty is because I did not have the time to take one before totalling the poor thing. But it wasn't all bad because I got a fairly generous insurance payout for it, and purchased my current vehicle. A 1992 R32 Gts-t, This originally was one of the few automatic rb25de r32's to come out but has been converted since. And so we begin the build. The day I got her (minus strut brace) - had some ugly sideskirts and wheels straight out of Need for Speed. But there were big plans ahead. First had to make a Pod box to hide the filter. Next up decided to remove the sound deadening from the backseats, and boot (as it already was missing boot interior why not go the whole 9 yards?) Next up was interior, as it was already in pretty good shape I decided to try and keep it fairly simple. Got myself a sparco steering wheel, sparco quick release, nrg short boss kit along with a sparco shifter. I also change the ugly green and white dash cluster back to the original grey with purple led's I did the aircon unit and rest of the din area while I was at it all in purple. Also picked up some gtr seats which needed some fixing for faily cheap so sewed them up and put them in, much better! Moving onto the exterior I had big plans, slowly starting to gather all of the bolt on bits and pieces I'd be adding. This included the following: n1 vents for the gtr front bar gtr grill gtr bonnet with n1 lip n1 sideskirts gtr overfenders trust rear pods dmax roof wing dmax boot wing Slowly but surely I got it all together and began trimming up the fibreglass pieces and text fitting them. Got myself some new pipes made up and got rid of the cannon, (To Be Continued)

All fluids including clutch, brakes and diff have been replaced in the last 5,000km. The car has been tuned by Chequered Tuning and currently makes 260rwkw on pump 98, or about 300kw at the flywheel. Very responsive and will chop most things on the road. Downsides are: •Front bar has some scratches on the bottom. •RH rear quarter has a scratch in the clear coat. Apart from the above the paint is excellent. The buyer of this car will receive a full folder of receipts totalling over $20,000 as well as dyno sheets for the tune and original Japanese auction papers. You will not find a cleaner, more genuine Skyline anywhere else. Registration is included but RWC will be left up to the buyer.   8. SOLD 1996 R33 Skyline Gts-t - manual, 250rwkw Hey guys, it's finally time to part ways with my '96 R33 Gts-t. I've owned it for about 4 years now, just upgraded so this has to go! I originally bought it in 2013 with about 112,000 on the clock, now has approx 146,000, rego till end of June 2017. I'm after $11,900. Located at Kogarah in Sydney When i first bought this it came with a high-flowed R34 OP6 turbo, I wanted something more responsive so I got a brand new Hypergear SS1PU turbo about 6 months later - installed it & got the car retuned. It's always been great to drive, boost comes on early and hard, fullboost (18psi) around 3500-3750rpm in 4th. Dyno graph was a hair under 250rwkw in a stuffy dyno room. Next step would be to slap in some larger injectors + larger fuel pump and run E85 for something closer to 300rwkw Serviced regularly and always taken care with it, it's always been a great reliable car.   10. 1996 R33 GTS-T Series 2 Silver When the car battery goes flat a few times over a few years, you have to replace the battery etc. due to lack of use you know the time has come to bite the bullet and let the girl go. I have owned this car for near on 10 years, imported into Aus and single owner of it here. It has had a very quiet life living on an acreage for 2 years then in a basement for the next 7 odd, never raced, rarely even driven with gusto. Been the most reliable car i've ever had. For 90% of the time i have owned it was only used on weekends as not long after i got it i moved close to work and train line so its had a boring life ever since. First things first let me be explicitly clear. I think it has a buggered head gasket (oil/similar in radiator overflow). Noticed it just before christmas after having gotten a new radiator and other stuff in November. Only drove it half a dozen times before realizing and only driven it briefly to charge battery once a week the past few weeks. Car still drives perfectly fine otherwise, it came as a shock. Anyway. Other than the radiator oil/whatever in overflow i cannot find any other symptoms, no smoke or loss of coolant etc. But something is a miss. She that shall go without name has reiterated many times the car is wasted on me these days and i must finally admit she is right. I rarely use it, i don't need it, it deserves a more active home (and i suppose "she" then gets to use the car space..). So with that said i have a firm asking price of $6,500 which is think is very good value especially if you're mechanically inclined to fix whatever the issue is above. The car would be a great daily, weekender toy, or track car. Leather steering wheel is worn thats about it the rest is all pretty good! Also can include a replacement illuminated rear SKYLINE garnish (never had it fitted). Also can throw in the old rotors+pads if wanted. Pads still had some life in them and rotors should be OK if machined (i think?).Car was serviced every year before rego/pink slip. Originally at powerplay imports, then north shore automotive, then quixspede. Number plates come with car are semi-custom i like $150 a year or something maybe less but you can just get rid of them and get normal ones. I probably should have before now haha. The car has a few what i consider minor dings and marks that come with age, and a scratch and crack on the front spoiler lip, thought all could be fixed and touched up quite easily. So i am new here, I joined to try and get some better information on what i should be looking at to get more out of my rb20det, I have read a lot of the build posts, But would like some advice on camshafts, Turbo and injectors. The current setup i have is as follows Rb20det Forged bottom end From what i can remember CP pistons, Eagle rods ARP head studs Turbo is a Garrett GT25 ball bearing Currently on 13psi Split fire coilpacks FMIC 2.5 inch piping Full 3 inch exhaust system - Stock manifold Stock ECU Stock 270cc injectors Automatic Transmission- Not going manual ​Has greddy cam gears but the threads are stripped out. I am looking at 260deg 8.8mm camshafts and a set of tomei adjustable cam gears 720cc Injectors Nistune ECU What would others recommend to get a bit more out of the engine and will the camshafts i have picked suit properly. There are not many engine builders up here in the NT so am looking to forums for suggestions. I will not WILL NOT swap to a different engine. Also does anyone know of a ECU that will support Automatic transmission?

  18. Hi all I have for sale my R32 GTS-T. I hadn't planned on selling it, but I'm now looking at buying a GTR. It's a 1992 R32 GTS-T, I've owned it for over 5 years since the odo said 130,000kms & its now showing 210,000kms. Been a daily driver for most of its life, still puts out around 150kw at the wheels at 13psi on standard motor, turbo & ECU. Very reliable at this power level, never had any major issues other than general wear & tear maintenance. Oil & filter changed every 5000kms religiously. I've been upgrading everything in the car ready for an RB26 conversion, & it's pretty much ready to go in right now.   20. Hey SAU, The time has come for me to move on from my R33 and invest in a work ute. Up for sale now is my 1996 Series 2 GTS-T (manual) Since buying this car off a member of this website who imported this car in 2004 and sold to me in 2010 I have treated it like a brand new car. It has been well taken care of and every maintanence issue has been followed out during my ownership. I was an extremely fussy buyer at the time and this was the standout r33 at the time. Currently the odometer sits at 155,944 km Previous owner has kept all documentation/reciepts of his maintanence as I have also for the following parts for proof. Rego untill feb 2013, RWC can be arranged with the buyer or sold without. As I dont think it will need much besides the usual new windscreen etc. Mods/work to this car include 100,000km service done Tinted windows Turbo timer Exedy Heavy duty clutch NGK Iridium spark plugs at around 135,000km Tein flex coilovers & 350z 17" rims Brand new alloy radiator and hoses fitted about a year ago Brand new yellow jacket coils fitted a few months ago Brand new slotted rotors for front and back along with new QFM performance brake pads also front and rear which were fitted last week Engine oil has been changed on time every 4000-6000km, using Motul 8100 (garage is full of empty bottles) and a few other highly recommended oils from the goods on oils thread. Clutch/brake fluid bled and changed Paint is in excellent condition, shines bright while clean. Has a few tiny stone chips on driver door and a small key mark on rear left panel but not very noticable. I have taken extremely good care during my time with this car, letting it warm up or driving very low rpm while cold for every drive. Always garaged and treated like a new car. I am not after swaps unless you happen to have a BT-50 in immaculate condition. Great car which has never let me down. Not after top dollar as I already have my target reached for my new car and am in need of a work ute asap.   22. Ok, I've been on here long enough & gotten into enough trouble in my R32 GTS-T over a number of years that I think it's time i did a thread on it. I'm doing my best to go back over all the pics I've saved since December 2007 when I bought it. It came into my ownership as a clean & tidy 1992 model, paint code AH3 (wine red). A lot of people don't like the colour, but it definitely grows on you over time. I've loved it since day 1. Specs when I picked it up: * RB20 DET (130,000kms on dash) - original dash & mileage as far as I could tell, overall interior & exterior condition seemed to match the odo reading, so I purchased it in preference to some other 50K & 60K cars which looked like rat sh*#. * 5 speed manual * 17" lenzo wheels * Microtech LT8 ECU * Turbosmart dual stage boost controller * 3" exhaust * slotted front rotors * HKS turbo timer * Blitz BOV (stupid loud) * Blitz FMIC * front strut brace * clear side indicators (VT commodore items) * "high speed" NISMO badge on the boot It looked very clean & tidy, had plenty of power for an RB20 & was a nice daily driver. Although initially with the Microtech the fuel economy was sh*# & high boost had been set WAY too high for a stock turbo with no supporting mods. Early changes & modifications consisted of: * HICAS lock bar * removed Microtech piggyback ECU (then discovered it had been masking a faulty AFM, so back to the shop to be fixed & checked over) * reset boost to 11psi low & 13psi high * Walbro 255lph fuel pump added when stock pump was tired * the obligatory pod filter & turbosmart BOV (later got me defected lol) * several different sets of wheels, 17" & 18" as I found different models I liked & could fit Removing the piggyback ECU & getting things set properly dropped my weekly fuel bill from $120+ to less than $70 for the same trip, & gained roughly 20kw at the wheels in the process. I can't remember the power figures at the time, but mostly stock with slight boost increase, so not earth shattering figures but good economy & reliability for daily use. Following this there was mainly wear & tear items which needed attention: * AFM as mentioned above (a pink label RB25 unit was retrofitted by Unique Auto Sports in 7 hills) * diff rebuilt after it got real clunky * new sports clutch when the stock unit was rather worn * misc coolant & power steering hoses due to age * coil packs upgraded to splitfire units when the stockers began to give me issues * fitted GTR front seats I went through phases of fitting gauges everywhere I could find room, but ultimately the running gear remained the same. Then 1 day the boys in blue caught up to me while out cruising on a Thursday night. They didn't like the big white wheels (among other things), & at the peak of the strike force taipan era in NSW, an undercover unit defected me. I saw him coming but couldn't even make it to a mates place nearby to escape....you live & learn. Got done for the following: * camber wear on tyres * BOV not fully plumbed back * boost controller * exhaust too loud * 1 more thing I can't even remember Cleaned everything up & got all that sorted & cleared within a week or 2. They didn't even worry about the catch can or anything. Along with the defect was a summons for EPA testing, so the car went in to be tuned on E85 to clear emissions. As the fuel system was stock, the turbo was disconnected & an adjustable fuel pressure regulator fitted to allow it to (sort of) run long enough to clear the test. Defects were cleared so I called to make an appointment to get the car checked.... There was no record on the system, so after all that I'd wasted money preparing for nothing....not happy, but at least it was all sorted & roadworthy again. Back to the tuning shop to get converted back to 98 & have the hairdryer reconnected. The next several years up until December 2013 saw many kms with minimal issue. 1 more (heavy duty) clutch has been installed anticipating an engine upgrade, but otherwise mostly cosmetic mods were added & that's about it: * 17" R34 GTT wheels * GTR bonnet & grille (grille yet to be painted because I've been lazy) * R33 GTS-T front brake upgrade * later reupgraded to R32 GTR front brakes with slotted rotors * Adjustable coil overs fitted * DVD player & 7" screen * GTR dials & display adapted to original GTS-T dash * A larger UAS alloy radiator was added somewhere during this time period also. December 2013: The car now shows roughly 220,000 kms still on the same odometer it had when I bought it. The stock RB20 has survived 90,000kms of my driving, plenty of daily use, long distance trips, a bit of spirited mountain driving, the R34 GTR 10th anniversary cruise to Mt Wilson with the SAU club, etc. Only minor issues throughout this entire time. New years eve 2013 the car came off the road to receive a new motor & gearbox combo. (RB20 is still running, may have dropped compression a bit due to age but haven't checked. The stock turbo is still in place with minimal shaft play also). The new combo consists of an RB26 (N1 turbos) from an R32, an RB25 gearbox from an R33, & a single piece driveshaft made up to suit the combo. Engine (& many other parts including coil overs) generously supplied by our very own SAU member & wrecker, FATZ. The conversion commences: After 6 months of weekend work, the swap out is more or less complete & the car is now running: Then the day it roared to life for the very 1st time: Funny enough no major issues. 1 shot shows where I missed an oil block off & dropped engine oil everywhere, otherwise it fired up nicely on stock ECU with the N1 turbos & RB25 gearbox & everything else in place. Now I'm in the process of reassembling the front end, finishing off things like bleeding the clutch, changing the throttle cable, etc to get it mobile once more. The car still has rego, & once I've had it running for a while with some future upgrades added, it will be getting engineered to remain registered without defects. Future upgrade plans are a Haltech ECU with flex tune, bigger injectors to suit & some semi slicks for the track. There's probably several things I've forgotten about over the years, but I will add anything else I recall as they pop into my head. The plan was always to have a quick street car that can cope with weekend track use, & even be a daily if I need it to on occasion. I prefer something a little underrated that doesn't look seriously quick like a GTR. That's why I've kept the stock GTS-T wing & front bar, but added the GTR bonnet for a slightly different look. It will be staying as a RWD also. Once the car is running, there is a set of 18" rims with wider rears to aim for more traction. The 17"s pictured will likely be getting semi slicks for track use, then I will alternate between the 2 sets as required. Very soon I'll be able to see if I've achieved what I set out to do when I bought the car.   23. I bought this car way back in April 2003, it had only 34000kms on the clock. For the last 11 years its has been my pride and joy, well looked after, always garaged, oil change promptly every 5000kms with only Penrite products, currently running 15w-50 full synthetic engine oil. Has only ever been run on 98 octane fuel with NGK plugs, currently BKR6E-11 gapped 0.8mm. At 100000kms it had its appropriate service with Gates timing belt fitted. Never had any problems with the vehicle, has always run great! Apart from aftermarket modifications, the suspension bushes have been replaced, new steering arms and tie rod ends, new starter motor, new genuine nissan radiator fitted in the last 18 months. Dynotuned 14 months ago at Federation motors in Cairns and makes over 400hp at the wheels comfortably at 18psi of boost, 98 octane fuel. This car has been great to drive, never been in any accidents, holds many memories, will be sad to see it go. I believe my car represents great value at $10,000.
