I have a stock  turbo r33 1993 model just recently as a week ago I installed a boost t to try and find the boost cut on the stock ecu in a nutshell just yesterday  had a Apexi Power FC installed and tuned on the dyno reading came back with 212kw 280hpish on 9psi and slowly bleeds off after hitting 9psi , (they tuned my car with the boost t still installed, did not uninstall it and then tune it) could the boost bleed be from the boost t or something els. I was thinking about removing the t and just rec connecting the waste gate without a boost t but am afraid it will mess with my tune. Help

ps I am needing information on what modifications I should do to help increase my kw/hp besides a bigger turbo lol,

when I say stock r33 I mean it’s has rejacket coils a tog tdo6, 3”tbe and fronty that’s aboout it will post engine bay pictures

This is not true. 9 psi on a 25 should give no more than 180 rwkW, probably only 170.

The whole point of the new ecu and tune was to run my car on more boost etc more power but they have left the boost t installed????? I want to go back to normal waste gate pressure but at the sametime I’m aiming for acting 11-12psi mark

What?

Well, if you want more boost your going to need some form of boost controller. If all you have is a stock turbo with stock actuator, all you can do is run stock boost. Pretty simple.

You seem upset that they 'left the boost t installed' - how did you expect them to turn up your boost if they removed the boost t?

Also in your first post you say the car has a stock turbo, but in your list of mods you say it's got a TD06? You realise that isn't the stock turbo right?

Did you buy the Power FC and boost t brand new? Where abouts are you located?

He is in Townsville. Can 100% say that is a known happy Dyno. Probably not the best place for a tune in Townsville. Ask me how I know....

I can recommend a much better tuner locally. The boost tee is designed to bleed air away from the wastegate to increase boost pressure.

    • Yes to both! Yes to standard ECU and tune, but exhaust is aftermarket. Unsure on brand. Actually have it sitting in at my desk haha! I have to set it up on my laptop but this is a great next step, will do. So I generally try to shift before 4.5K RPM most times. I largely don't do a lot of high-rev driving, but I will take it up to red 1-2x a week max, as I know the occasional "Italian tune-up" is good for these cars.  Oh wow, is this way better than what I'm getting. Does this mean there's a good chance I have an issue?   Thanks for all the info so far guys.
    • Old Son, did you re-use the Holden ABS in the new shell or try a different module?
    • Yeah, nah. I had the actuator rod off it today. The arm will not move at all. Neither out, nor in. Yeah, you'd think so, but I've been thinking about that. Even when the actuator rod fell all the way off at the beginning of this saga, it would build more boost and faster in lower gears than it would in higher gears, and you'd think that that was the opposite of what should happen. But I strongly suspect that there is a thing with the gearing getting the revs to rise faster, that there must be some transient effect with the gas flow rate rising quickly, that you don't get with the more steady state case of the higher gears. Keep in mind - the gate is not shut in either of my weirdnesses. So things are not "normal". We normally think about a turbo spooling up (below the wastegate target) with the gate shut. I have all sorts of mental models running now where the gate is a little bit open, and having it stuck open allowing gas out while it should be going through the turbine has all sorts of weird effects (in these mental models). I'm thinking in the higher gears, the ex mani pressure builds to the point where enough gases spill out the wastegate to just prevent the pressure rising much more at all, or just creeping up, all the whole the revs are increasing and getting closer to the point where a gear shift becomes necessary.
    • Is it possibly wastegate actuator itself is sticking, or even the rod to flapper? Otherwise I reckon things are getting a bit rusty/worn   Also odd it won't boost in 3rd to 5th, but will in 1st, I'd expect the other way around with it slightly open as there's more time on your way to redline for it to spin up
