mate calm down I’m just wondering as yours is the first I’ve seen

Completely calm - there are a few of us on here with TH1 and thought everyone was aware of GTR registry. TH1 dark blue pearl is second most rare colour above the rarest BL0, at less than 1% and less than 150 produced.

You didn't live through the 2000s? They were on every street corner. About 1 per every 10 metallic red ones, to be sure, but nonetheless.

Yeah but AH3 metallic red in GTR is still more at about double the TH1 production. Never seen a BL0 in the flesh though.

What the hell are you talking about ? According to GTR registry 1145 R32 GTR were released in TH1, with more than half of these being in the 89 - 91 bracket.

It's definitely rare and not a common colour in a GTR, but hardly out of existence rare.

Had mine for nearly 14 years now.

You might want to check distance to Alice (from everywhere!) before you drop by...

Not really, just some people don't research anything before they ask Duncan in general on this forum these days. If you had found out there were 1145 GTR in a specific colour would you really expect ALL of them to be extinct and ask the same question ? There are 3 in the build threads on the first couple of pages in TH1, so probably why I thought it was a bit of a stupid question.

Anyway..... if I offended anyone in anyway I sincerely apologize - I'm am here to help and in no way here to upset anyone. Hope everyone is having a good Easter.

When did you buy it mate? What else did they tell you about the car?

Did they tell you it will attract chicks cos that's a lie, everyone knows gtr's attract the blokes. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Still, sorry there mate, you asked without obviously attempting to even Google how many of an XYZ GTR was even produced when you yourself own one. If you did, GTR registry would have given you a starting point of information before the need to ask. They way you asked if any were in existence implied a fair bit of non research.

BK

I do obviously know & realise how many GTR’s were made & in what colours, I’m clearly only wondering which TH1 Blue ones still exist & have stood the test of time with it being 25+ years since built.

You obviously don’t get my question angle

Alright, now everyone can settle the hell down.

New posters are welcome on this forum, and prior knowledge is not a pre-requisite.

Please welcome new people and share knowledge with them, as each of us learned when we joined and over our time here.

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
