ahh, G'Day Skliner's !! (sup)

enough of that crap...........Does anyone know where I can find this info...

How many registered (on the road) model R33 GTS/GTS-T's are there in Australia and then in Victoria alone; (not interested in GTR's, or are they considered to be 'Skylines as a whole' by the road authorities).

I would also like to know, for comparison sake, how many current model Commodore and Falcons there are registered.

I know it's a big call, but I just want to direct the answer to a couple of knuckle-head work-mates who keep on saying that the (R33)Skyline is "so fucHing common....er, like commodores...er...'burp'...you see them everywhere!!!"

Rather than be like them, I would like to present some comments that are a little more factual and better presented er...burp.

If someone can just point me in the general direction?......

anyways Skliners,

chankya!

SSMark.

the reason they notice them "everywhere" is because they notice them over other cars on the road.. thereby making their own shitboxes boring and blending into the background and a skyline something different.. therefore their hypothesis is inherently flawed..

bah fords and holdens....who pays attention to those rust buckets anyway... i wouldnt notice one if was painted fluro yellow with a billboard nailed to the roof... the only way id probably notice one was if it was eating my dust in my mirrors, and even then it wouldnt get a second glance....

their f**king common as...:):D:D

Why do you care what they say? ...and even if you did find out how many, it's still not a fair comparision as you know.

It could be the fact they are easily spotted now because they are different to what is available locally. God I gave up looking at Skylines after one year here, except for BNR34...BCNR33 and BNR32 aren't a big deal to me no more.

I don't see that many skylines on the roads among all the other JDM cars. Human nature you don't need to see 5 a day...just seeing 1 different Skyline...week in, week out it's enough to say they are common.

Why go to all the trouble just to prove a few knuckle heads...is there a prize to be won?

welll..in Canberra at least...there are nowhere near as many!

it's just a dumb arguement...

just as a test - anyone, anywhere in Australia sit at a major set of traffic lights and look around you. Guaranteed there'll be a Commodore or Falcon there somewhere. Probably quite a few. You can't say that about Skylines, anyone who thinks there's just as many is delousional (sp?)

There's heaps more than there USED to be, which is why people start these stupid arguements. meh i don't care anyway, if there's lots on the road it's obviously because they're great cars :):D

thanx for your support guys (and Michelle), I suppose I'm one of those "here are the facts" type of people. After reading these threads, I suppose I don't need to be.

These recalcitrants (at my workplace) can go an get sodded!!

Anyways................

Up the Skliners. (and the Irons)

superspit, try and find how many cars where imported TOTALLY in a year and then see how many commodores are sold each year.

I read somewhere in 2002 when i imported my car there was something like 27k cars or so. say 15% of that are 33's then thats about 4000 in one year. holden sell in excess of 27,000 commodores a year.. eaaaasy!

    • I'll just leave this with, holy shit, those cars at work are awesome, and this will look wicked!
    • Could you modify this duct so instead it pushes the extra air through the radiator too and not down and out? For temps, I know it's not the greatest idea, but as a bit of a last resort, you could use a very intermittent misting spray onto the front of the coolers/rad. You don't want to be soaking them such that water is dripping off, but a small most on/off so that the water evaporates. That point of it constantly evaporating, rather than being soaked in water, will pull a LOT of heat out of the cooler. I'm literally thinking just the little mist sprayers for a garden from Bunnings. Being in a low humidity climate it will help even more! The other trick if you want to be ghetto is some shade cloth hung in the opening, and keep it wet. Pretty much now it's acting like an evap cooler on a house, but cooling the air you need to use to cool the radiator...   On a topic to think about too though, when air enters through the bumper, is it all nicely ducted from the edges of that opening back at a nice angle, or is it like most cars, and the edge of the opening just stops, and suddenly it's wayyy wider behind that? If it does the later, get it shrouded out at nice angles. When that opening changes too rapidly, it can actually cause a high pressure zone between the front bar and radiator, and limit air flow into that area, which means less air for cooling, as it effectively stalls the air, AND adds to drag...
    • Do you have any before and after photos? That's $200 just for the hydro blasting?
    • It doesn't look like there's a lot of options out there these days, and what's out there is performance oriented aftermarket stuff (with the GTR markup) I wonder if there are other cars with similar springs, after all its just a matter of length, diameter and stiffness. Alternatively, I did see coil spacers. Probably not the best option, but could be serviceable too.
