Sold that old trailer getting a new custom nice one, with 300ZX wheels naturally.

Picking up Duncans tonight.

Benm I can prob take you for a spin.

PS Got another GTR bit for the zed, accelerator peddle whihc the GTR one has the bulge at the bottom left side for heal toeing for down changing. Skyline R32 and R33 GTS-T have straight one like zed and yes GTR one goes straight on and only around $20 from memory.

Well... Some casualties of war today...

Green R32 GTR "GDZILR" (or something like that) forgot to turn at Turn 1 and ran into a wall at high speeds... From what I saw as I drove past the car, it has some major front end remodelling...

Purple People Eater R33 GTR was going great guns for about 6 laps, holding 110-120 degrees oil temps, then half way around lap 7, it developed a very funny noise, and I quickly got off the throttle. The car immediately stalled even though the clutch was disengaged, and I couldn't get it restarted on the fly, so I pulled over to the side of the track.

There I noticed oil temps had risen to 140 degrees (in half a lap!!!) and something was boiling under the hood (probably water)

Initial tests conclude that the engine still has 150-160 compression across the board, so it's not a cracked ringland or any valve issues. It struggles to idle unless coaxed with some throttle input. There's a knocking noise eminating from the engine somewhere, undiagnosed at this stage. Engine oil has been dumped and is sans metal particles, so doubtful that it's a spun bearing. Spark plugs look clean and in good shape.

Fuel pump is definitely an issue, as it has always been since the rebuild. It doesn't prime when the key is turned to ON, as proved by hooking up a fuel pressure gauge. It also doesn't hold proper pressure when the engine is turned off, fuel flows back through the pump back into the tank immediately. Fuel pressure jumps from 50-55psi at idle instead of holding steady at 40 psi like it should be.

Engine is being removed and torn down this weekend. Stay tuned :P

Fuxor! Fingers crossed for you mate. I'm sure that it will be fine as you are Mr. Ultra Catious, and would have everything sussed. It will be a stupid little problem. Back to the track in no time :P

Richard

I went like stink today :P

Was great to have a class of "normal cars" to play with (as opposed to the Burrows Day plethora of Ferarrism Astons and Porsches!) :D I was almost overtaking a person on every lap (whoo hoo! FUN!). That includes a few fast 911 Porsche Turbos! I managed to make a passenger queezy (lol fine for me as I'm in there with a harness hehe) and took my mechanic Indy out too. He helped me to learn how to shift a lot faster and get right down to 2nd gear for sideways action on corner 2 and also the little 's bends' before the main straight.

Brown pants material!

All in all I'm chuffed at the cars performance, happy that all the car dudes I have been hanging out with lately were there and freaked out at how fast my car was :D And I'm 100% sure I went faster at EC today than I ever have even (I was consistently hitting the rev limiter in 4th on the main straight!!!) but I was not timed.

Then it rained. And I went home!

Thanks motoconcepts, loosely organised and a few accidents, rain too, but all in all I had fun. Nice to meet ya Ben! and Andrew. Sorry about your car mate!!!! Damn crap shit does happen. Hope to see you guys out there next time (I'll have new HKS GT2530 turbos then!!! MUAHAHAHAHAH!!!!).

Yes certainly another interesting EC Trackday (they always are at EC).

GDZILR was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I seen his accident from the top of the pit viewing area, their was a very ligh sprinkle of rain and in the time it took myself and Sam to walk 20m it went from light sprinkle to heavy down pour. The green GTR happened to be going thru Turn1 at what looked like 'race pace' which resulted in the back end being lost, then the 4wd musta kicked in and drove him head on into the wall.

A very nice collection of Porsche GT3, BMW, Mazeratti, R32/33 GTR, HSV, Silvia cars and I even seen a funny looking boat

Hey Merli just remember "It still looks good" (a comment made by Merli as his GTR was sitting on the back of a tilt tray).

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
