Awesome day, some seriously fast cars out on the track all day long which was awesome to see :D:D

Shame a few left a bit worse for wear :D:(

GRACER blew a power steering belt ripping the crank angle sensor wiring out :D:( got it bodgied up and got home without power sterring which was great to see....

the white R32 GTR that lost the bonnet was disapointing... appeared to be pretty cosmetic but windscreens arent cheap....

B-Man - am i wrong in assuming you were driving the white R33??? i saw the car blowing heaps of smoke but wasnt to sure if you made it back or not??

The man hours that musta gone into that car would be amazing. I don't think their was a single standard part that I could see that hadn't been touched in some way.

Ha ha - No that wasn't me - but I saw that guy. Duncan and I were talking about him - His smoke kept ketting worse and worse and worse until bang.... (That was a GTR)

I was in the Silver R33 GTS-t - Went out first session - did about 4 laps, punted it down the straight, then when I braked/decelarated - massive amounts of white smoke from the exhaust. I think it scared the shit out of the Shane and Ben behind me - he he.

I parked it after that.

Drove home no problems - still makes boost. So I'm pretty sure its a seal in the CHRA. Not a big deal - Just more $$ (which I don't have)

Cheers,

:werd:

that guy was great.

its great to see what is acheivable with our cars with some talent

ahh well all in good time :D

Tell me about it. I was coming onto the straight when my mirrors where filled with Jimbos line and then as he passed me I notice it wasnt jimbo in the pilots seat.

Hey Tosh GTR's are not immortal.

Roy Zed was strong but did not come up fastest car. Kinda The fish that got away story. I was only timed in the first session when I was setting up tyre pressures and suspension getting used to new set up etc Also was hitting rev limiter which we had a bit low only 7,000rpm. Second timed session when I was rounding everyone up, although Geoff from SSS Automotive was not there, only came back very late when he left to change rear diff so? One of my Zed fans with a zed stop watch timed me at 48 something secs. Skylines ruled again though in numbers and times. Lots of rubber on the track which got distracting and exciting when getting up close to car in front prior to over taking with rubber hitting your screen.

Big role up had 50 cars.

Times will be on our site soon.

Its also up on the racetime website

Good to such a good turn out after last year, damn shame about the skylines that died though :)

John, good to see it wasn't you that forgot the bonnet pins this time

Yojimbo here (SAU wont let me log out and back in as myself), I just wanted some photos of the silvia.

I dropped around to Hills Motorsport after lunch on saturday after a call from Mark and Siko for an epic mission to get this car finished, and didnt get home till 8pm sunday !!!

When I left home i never imagined I wouldnt return before the track session and so I left my camera behind :)

Totally rooted by the time we got back but well worth it. 30 hours from nothing to rb26, including all 'cooler plumbing and incorporating factory loom and modified factory computer, fuel system, tuning....

As well as a stop to RESPRAY THE FRONT HALF OF THE CAR !!!!

Need Pics - we were too busy to take any !!

ALSO, the silvia was only running about 14psi, the least boost that the wastegate would allow. made well in exces of 280 rwkw - power could not be measured even with 4 100 kg guys in the boot ! 280 was just the highest figure recorded.

Damn

I thought the clutch was slipping in 3rd and 4th untill I seen under the bonnet of that thing

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
    • Not yet quite as bad as what we've seen a Jim Berry clutch do in an R32 GTR though when it decided to cut a chassis rail in half... Still very very gnarly and a great reason to avoid.
