i always cop shit but i dont care cause its always by drunk knobs walking on the side of the road, who probably could never own and appreciate what we have, they get gelous and can only do one thing and thats rip us off.

yeh v8 guys do too, but usuall the people with quik v8s can show mutual respect and just give u a friendly comment about missing cylinders and shit, no big deal.

as for monaros and all that crap, man all you gota do is compare prices, what does a stock over 50 grand monaro rum, high 13`s, low 14`s, shit imagine what my 33 would run with over 50 gs spent...............oohhhh yummy:)

Why do the g/f's sitting in the passenger seats of their b/fs car always give you death stars and never look happy?

Cause they see you driving and want to swap places? No offence but green is not a becoming colour for a woman to turn :P

Driving through Sydney one day on my way into the city and I pulled up at a red light. No cars were around then as the lights went green, a 4WD full of Japanese people came up beside me and yelled out what we thought was "RACE US". The windows were down and me and my mate just looked at each other puzzled! I gassed it in 2nd gear to the next set of red lights and they turned green as i approached them

Hahaha, I'm thinking, what a tool in his V8 Landcruiser, go back to where my car came from. Then they came hooning up the side of me again and were abusing the shite out of us, wanting to race us again. They then proceeded to take a left turn into a side street.

I'm driving along asking myself what just happened, then it clicked. They didn't want to race me, they were calling me RACIST because my number plates are JAPCAR!

Group of people hanging around out front of a pub that had just closed, me and another Skyline stopped at the lights and someone yells out, "Look at the Monaro's" !!!!!

Generally I get nothing but nice comments and friendly waves from other cars but most Skyline drivers dis me. Apart from Shonen and GTR-80Y I've never had a friendly acknowledgment from an Asian looking Skyline driver. They are pretty Aussie-Asians though. Don't know why this is.

The only time I ever got beat at a traffic light grande prix was when I miss-pressed the button to change into 2nd gear whilst next to a SS ute. The guy thought he was so good.

Oh hang on... I remember one other time... A Datto 1600 with some serious power absolutely killed me in Canberra one time. Holy shit that thing was fast. He was doing 3rd gear fishies at 100km/h. His comment, "Get a Datto mate!"

i have a gold VL and it doesnt have a body kit or big shiny mag's the only thing that gives it away that it's pretty quick is the skyline GT badges on the side and the sticker 24 valve twin cam turbo.

One day i pulled up at the lights and i reved up this guy in a VT senator he looked at me and laughed so he must of thort what the hell ill give this guy a flogging when the light turned green we went for it, because of the T04 i have turbo lag untill bout 50 - 60 k's he had about 1 car length in front of me n then when i hit boost str8 past him i slowed down n waited for him to catch up n when he got to me he was shattered, all you have to remeber is "God invented turbo lag to give v8's a chance!!"

Also i dont know any V8's that kicks out side ways at 80k's

I get a fair bit - my plates are 33PSI.

I wasnt trying to suggest that I am running "33 psi" but that i have a "r33 turbo".

One stupid chode at Harry's before I got my FMIC yelled out "how do you run 33psi without a cooler"

My immediate thought was "how the hell could you run 33psi in a skyline even if you did have a FMIC?"

Silver 33?

Golden Rules of street racers. Don't race anything that sounds like a tractor and don't race Datto's. They've either got a SR20, CA18, FJ20 or are standed. So either way, your going to get your arse flogged (unless you've got some serious power) or it's not worth it :D

Very good advice a mates got a 1600 with an FJ being transplanted as we speak and his older brother has a 1200 Ute with a CA both are weapons!

:D:( thats some funny stuff!

I got "You're 4 cylinders short!" once... I simply have no time for utterly stupid people.

nothing worse than the "Jap crap" saying

god there is so many hypocritical and wrong things with that saying, no matter what car they drive u can guarantee majority of it was made in japan anyway.

You tell me a production engine built somewhere other than japan thats better than the 2JZ and RB26..... None.

Idiots, as if youd go that far out of your way to pay someone out for their pride and joy. I look at some cars and think man thats shit, but i dont actually say anything. Some people will never change

    • I know why it happened and I’m embarrassed to say but I was testing the polarity of one of the led bulb to see which side was positive with a 12v battery and that’s when it decided to fry hoping I didn’t damage anything else
    • I came here to note that is a zener diode too base on the info there. Based on that, I'd also be suspicious that replacing it, and it's likely to do the same. A lot of use cases will see it used as either voltage protection, or to create a cheap but relatively stable fixed voltage supply. That would mean it has seen more voltage than it should, and has gone into voltage melt down. If there is something else in the circuit dumping out higher than it should voltages, that needs to be found too. It's quite likely they're trying to use the Zener to limit the voltage that is hitting through to the transistor beside it, so what ever goes to the zener is likely a signal, and they're using the transistor in that circuit to amplify it. Especially as it seems they've also got a capacitor across the zener. Looks like there is meant to be something "noisy" to that zener, and what ever it was, had a melt down. Looking at that picture, it also looks like there's some solder joints that really need redoing, and it might be worth having the whole board properly inspected.  Unfortunately, without being able to stick a multimeter on it, and start tracing it all out, I'm pretty much at a loss now to help. I don't even believe I have a climate control board from an R33 around here to pull apart and see if any of the circuit appears similar to give some ideas.
    • Nah - but you won't find anything on dismantling the seats in any such thing anyway.
    • Could be. Could also be that they sit around broken more. To be fair, you almost never see one driving around. I see more R chassis GTRs than the Renault ones.
    • Yeah. Nah. This is why I said My bold for my double emphasis. We're not talking about cars tuned to the edge of det here. We're talking about normal cars. Flame propagation speed and the amount of energy required to ignite the fuel are not significant factors when running at 1500-4000 rpm, and medium to light loads, like nearly every car on the road (except twin cab utes which are driven at 6k and 100% load all the time). There is no shortage of ignition energy available in any petrol engine. If there was, we'd all be in deep shit. The calorific value, on a volume basis, is significantly different, between 98 and 91, and that turns up immediately in consumption numbers. You can see the signal easily if you control for the other variables well enough, and/or collect enough stats. As to not seeing any benefit - we had a couple of EF and EL Falcons in the company fleet back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The EEC IV ECU in those things was particularly good at adding in timing as soon as knock headroom improved, which typically came from putting in some 95 or 98. The responsiveness and power improved noticeably, and the fuel consumption dropped considerably, just from going to 95. Less delta from there to 98 - almost not noticeable, compared to the big differences seen between 91 and 95. Way back in the day, when supermarkets first started selling fuel from their own stations, I did thousands of km in FNQ in a small Toyota. I can't remember if it was a Starlet or an early Yaris. Anyway - the supermarket servos were bringing in cheap fuel from Indonesia, and the other servos were still using locally refined gear. The fuel consumption was typically at least 5%, often as much as 8% worse on the Indo shit, presumably because they had a lot more oxygenated component in the brew, and were probably barely meeting the octane spec. Around the same time or maybe a bit later (like 25 years ago), I could tell the difference between Shell 98 and BP 98, and typically preferred to only use Shell then because the Skyline ran so much better on it. Years later I found the realtionship between them had swapped, as a consequence of yet more refinery closures. So I've only used BP 98 since. Although, I must say that I could not fault the odd tank of United 98 that I've run. It's probably the same stuff. It is also very important to remember that these findings are often dependent on region. With most of the refineries in Oz now dead, there's less variability in local stuff, and he majority of our fuels are not even refined here any more anyway. It probably depends more on which SE Asian refinery is currently cheapest to operate.
