Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls i require your help, in the past few weeks i have been thinking and i have come to the conclusion, do we have a good and serious japanese car and parts importar i am considering a business such as "just ***" in sydney i cant disclose the JAPanese importas full name as for privacy rights and issues but i think you may all know who i am thinking of. i need to know would you people and other owners of japanese imports support me. honestly i am not sure wheather there is a shop similar to this in melbourne "and if so please tell me" but i think it would be a good idea. i would specialize in Half cuts, motors, gearboxes, spare panels, little interior parts and bodykits, badges and so on. everything imported everything you need. any feed back would be great i just want your opiniuon as the customer is always right.

Thank you kindly Lee.

there are a few places that do that but i think they are more spare parts wreckers, not a shop like your suggesting. its always good to have a decent spare parts supplier that wont charge you stupidly for parts. so if u do go ahead, i dunno become a sponsor on SAU, give us good prices ( maybe even discounts for sau vic members:D:D) good turn around times, and of course good service and im sure you will get business. it all comes down to marketing i guess. market yourself right and u'll be sucessful.

good lucks with it. which area are you planing to open up?? not in geelong i hope cause thats too far for me...LOL

well I already bring containers of parts down from japan, have access to wreckers etc, but I only do it on a per order basis, so when the container's full it gets shipped down. So if you need a supplier and/or logistics organiser gimme a hoot.

Its a good idea. Especially if you open it in Geelong :)

Seriously, a good shop that sells second hand performance gear as well as original parts will always be profitable.

Good luck!

It's about time someone in Melbourne gave the boys from Japanese Motor Sport in Adelaide a run for their money!! I'm sure you would get alot of business from the keen punters in Melb. looking for good prices on second hand big brand performance gear. All the best with the business venture!

:)

    • How dare you sell your unreliable Skyline and buy a reliable, Toyota/Yamaha car with a strong gearbox, torsen LSD and Toyota reliability. At least you won't need to worry about oil pumps, big catch can, oil restrictors, blowing off power steering belts, sheering off 3rd gear, failing ABS relays/pumps, etc.
    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
