What should I do with my car down the track?

Recommended Posts

Many of you know the story of my car:

Currently it’s an R34 25GT with a bolt-on turbo, bigger injectors, fuel pump and aftermarket ECU….with respect to the future, should I

A) Revert it back to N/A and sell it like that (would only take a day to do)? Then goto option D) or E)

B) Sell it as is with all the bits on? Then goto option D) or E)

C) Put in an RB30DET and keep it?

D) Get a 350Z and put turbo’s on that?

E) Get an R34 25GT Four and put a Stagea Engine and gearbox in and have a cheaper “GTR-esque” car?

Option D) would have to be a fair bit further into the future though...that's not cheap :)

Revert to stock.

Sell bits separately.

Buy a partially modded GTT or import GTX Four. You can't get RB25DET with 4wd in R34's but you can get manual.

If you go the four make sure you start with a bigger turbo and all the rest. Kick our arses straight out. I'm going to go RB30DET eventually I think.

option f) get gt-r gbox and front susp....(for 4 w drive) fit vk45 v8 and twin turbs)......big job i know, but it would be abso frikkin lutely awesome if done right

a) then get something cheap and put a fast engine in it for the "play car".. depends how much money you have and what you want to do with it.

if you want a 350Z just get one, but may cost a mild fortune to modify that properly.

I have a 350Z at the moment and have been looking at the twin turbo option ... APS are developing a bolt on kit they claim to be good for 340kw (info and clips on their website) and estimate the cost at about $15k, and Nizpro in Melbourne do a twin turbo kit + internal mods which from memory they claim something like 360kw but want $45k.

Problem though with the Z is traction ... even with just my s/s exhaust traction can be a problem and I have 275/19's on the rear.

Option F) sounds sweet....but I'd have to start with a GT Four, otherwise the 4WD conversion would get expensive.

Maybe some sort of 4WD RB30 massive turbo combo???? That could probably be done with a lot less wallet abuse than the other combinations...hmmm

I think now I'm on a house buying mission the 350Z will have to sit in my dreams for a bit longer...especially seeing as traction is not it's strong point.

Hungry...I'll do a straight swap for that!!!!! :)

Syl are you taking the piss? I'm not putting Chick Torque on my car!!! :)

I'm still leaning toward the GT Four...and the RB30, so if anyone wants to give me $25K for my car....in N/A form of course ;)

ide have to go with the 350Z mainly because of the rarity of turbo 350z's in australia

do something different, you know the 350z + turbo(s) is a really good combination

grab a 350 still under warrantly, slap a hks 3040 on there with all the other goodies and if anything goes wrong, take it back to stock, take her back and say 'dunno what happened, was driving along one minute and the next a piston was in my lap'

j/k

at the end of the day, do you even know someone with a 350z? let alone a 300-400kw turbo one?

:burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

    • Welcome. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your dreams. If you want a gtr, keep sabing and you will eventually get one. I feel like if I had have bought stocks, those companies would have gone bust and I would have lost my money.  There's a gamble in everything we buy. I've had good times and bad. But... I've also met my absolute best friend through this network and can't imagine life without them(more like a brother). Keep in mind, some specific mods will change as technology gets better. If you feel like general chat, there's always the wasteland.....
    • Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
