I think they traded out of it but wrxhoon did put a very good case to me as to why they ain't that good.

If you had a GTR or something you'd want a quiktrak and a ezitrack but the money is just too much to justify on my cefiro.

I might just get a normal alarm/immobiliser and ask the installer to leave me an extra wire or two where I can fit a couple of my own little tricks heh heh.

Incidentally, why do all these imported cars NOT have immobilisers/alarm already? Are car thieves an Australian invention?? Hmmmmm. So many high-performance/expensive cars, and none of them have any security devices?

Theft in Japan has historically been incredably low. I don't have my heart set on Brant at all. I am just totally confused.

CK: Quiktrak has had financial problems, but more importantly, their radio-style of tracking is flawed. Sattrak (thats a company ) is a better option as they use a combination of GSM and GPS tracking. Brant offers their own tracking module too, for about $2000 on top of the cost of an alarm

just like a few others have said, PM wrxhoon on this forum about a tracking alarm, or pm me and i can get him to call you (but it wont be untill the weekend they are in japan)

the tracking alarm from wrxhoon uses gsm to contact u and sattelite and will only cost about 1300.

if you are not worried about your car getting stolen then just get the cheapest 3 point system u can get (around 400) anymore than that is a waste unles u get a tracker.

I have already PM'ed WRXHOON in the past. My concern with self-monitored tracking units is that if ones phone is off, on silent, out of battery, or out of range, then its of little use. The alternative -- monitored systems -- are quite expensive.

The unit WRXHOON (or rather his friend/son/whatever) installs is the EzyTrack unit also used by Sattrak.

yeah fair enough i believe though that now u can get a slightly different unit (from wrxhoon again) which can be monitored by sattrack or whoever as he is an installer for them... but then u have to pay yearly fees and i think the unit is slightly more than the normal(self monitored) system.

Finally got an alarm installed: I can sleep a bit more easily tonight

But more importantly a H-U-G-E thumbs up for Allan Jong of Maxi Security. They guy is an absolute champ: he gave me a great price; was extremely helpful; he comes to you; he came out on a Sunday; spent 7-8 (!!) hours installing two alarms and is just an all round top bloke.

I am honestly blown away by his service: not a moments hestitation in thoroughly recommending him to anyone.

The problem with automatic window winders is that all alarm retailers charge a load of money for them. Black Widow quoted me $200 for 2 windows.

I built a circuit from parts I found at Dick Smith for $14 that will do the same thing. Keep in mind Dick smith retail prices are high already.

There's a reason for this...

Automatic window winders are illegal.

If they were to install it, they would be in contravention of some ADR.

So if they're going to do the job with that risk, they'll charge accordingly.

I have a fairly ok 3 point immobiliser on mine but my parking habits are pretty strict.

Those Black Widow BW10000 alarms are on the NRMA approved alarm list... and I believe you can get a 3rd point for a bit of extra money.. but are they compatible with turbo timers?

Can't find anything to say that they are.. or are most alarms compatible... I'm really better with mechanical shite not electrics.

Strathfield Car Radios sell those alarms for like.. $300-350 plus siren $50-100.. are they really no good? Any info is appreciated

doran pro audio are in stalling the top of the range mongoose for $460 with a built in turbo timer for me on my gtr next week. they also installed a rhino ram in my 1971 capri gt with central locking for $500. if anyone wants an alrm go to doran pro audio and talk to tony he has the best prices around.
