this ^^. Your other options are to get a -7 turbo or rebuild your current 1 for like $400? built to n1 spec so you can run heaps moar booooost. Your other option is to just get a blown turbo really cheap from somewhere and when you get the chance upgrade it to n1 and then just swap it over whenever you get the chance.

yeah scratch that. Pretty much new turbo or high flow the current 1. Both will need a tune so add another heap of cash there for a nistune etc. Just drop the boost down and wait till the turbo starts blowing smoke, then replace it lol

14psi is not guaranteed instant death for a turbo. It's heat that kills them so if you only boot it occasionally and for short periods you will probably be OK for a while. But 14psi would not be OK for regular, full throttle stuff like multiple drag runs or a track day where it has long periods of high boost and no time to cool down. I reckon NAP is onto it, there is probably a simple plumbing problem.

As for gtr turbs....n1 spec is OK if they are ball bearing (ie R34) but terrible if they are bush bearing R32, R33 or "nismo". They are still a pretty small upgrade, so maybe not worth all the hassle unless you are doing it yourself

um - not sure that's good value for money. Check through Cooma Diesel (GCG, Garret reps) the cost ....

I was quoted $900+ per turbs way back when.

New = $1250ea for -7's. Now they are $2300 a pair.

You may wish to join Erics GB on the HKS ss' when you find out the price.

He's doing a pair with full kit for $3k :D

(expect commission if he does Mr Deziner)

Of course! ; )

Actually there has been very little interest in it so far.

eyy guys just been noticing theres a higher theft rate of cars now in the ACT. I think theres a group thats started stealing peoples cars just as a joke. The shit thing is that my immobiliser plays up all the time. Anyone know of any fuel pump cut tricks or something to stop them. Ive just started putting on a steering lock thats only for overnights though as i park outside.

A steering lock sounds good. Might chain my car to the wall and purchase a pitball dog to sleep in the car overnight. I'm going to start parking around the back. Just a pain to get in and out. But atleast I can purchase a tent to cover it without looking like a nob lol

Switch in the Boot, on the Fuel Pump wiring would do the trick.

Not a Bad idea at all...

Im thinking about that maybe maybe making it wireless like how you unlock the car. Saves me the effort of opening the boot but if its gotta be done ill do it the hard way.

Do we have any word on where these steals are taking place? North side / south side of even suburbs?

if you want an unobtrusive way to make sure it doesn't start, just unplug something important in the engine bay, but leave the plug touching but not properly plugged to it's normal place. The crank angle sensor plug, ignitor pack or resistor pack would all make the car crank but not fire.

assuming they aren't towing it away

So far they have mainly been going through the Northside (Charnwood). Been seen driving commonwhores (vn, vr or vs, a supercharged stato and a ute).

They got chased last night at around 3am but got away.

They are stealing cars and car related parts (wheels, turbos, front bars etc...)

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
