12.8 on r-comps and 12.9 on genuine street tyres :)

plus i ran a 1.8 flat 60 foot on street tyres but clutch stuck to flywheel and couldnt smash box into 3rd haha

that was with enough power to run over 113mph (the run before), low 12 went begging!

i'll race u in the gtr instead hehe

Had my first tune today with the new engine got 1500 klms on it so there more potential in it yet, tuner thinks the plenum is stoping it atm but very happy with the result

cheers Peter

HOLY SHIT!

Decent numbers there!

I'd also love to know the spec's on the motor too!

sorry guys been busy

40thou oversize aries pistons

25 crank make it rb2.1ltr

ported and polished head

hks cams and cam gears

performance valve springs

garrett gt3040r turbo

hks low mount manifold

3" hks zorst

hybrid front mount

cai to standard airbox

550 sard injectors

Hehehe. Std RB20s pulling good numbers and good times. And legend finally gets his 20 back on the road. Great stuff peter. I cant imagine how much fun that car must be to drive. How is it for traction in top of 2nd and 3rd gear? What boost? Does the head work help it make power? Your thoughts?

LOL..i want to throw the HKS manifold and 3076 on. 20G just wont make the top end i need to scare the big boys at Phillip Island and Sandown :P

im curious also about the head work, what exactly was done to it and whether its worth it bang for buck.

hehe...there are still a few ppl down here that attribute the speed of my car this year to a cheater spec motor. Its just that for the first time in a good many years i have a working diff, good rubber and a tuner that knows what he is doing, so not having to drive around too many problems. Cant wait to get the new suspension working

you'll run into the 12's, but a low 12 required stock rear strutts and coils, i ended up with positive camber on the back when we put them in which sqaured the tyres out on the launch.

and you'll need micky thompson e/t's

my 13.1 in street trim was on 20 psi aswell, when i up'd it to 24 i couldnt get it to hook up till 4th

the 16c rear isnt THAT bad hahaha, i see full boost 24psi by 4700.

Do you run ARP head studs and aftermarket headgasket? I'm just wondering how far I can go with the boost on my RB20. I was planning on a max of 25psi but if your doing that on the stock head studs I might just push for 28psi. I'm running the head studs, Tomie headgasket, sard 800cc injectors, Prescion SC61 turbo, PFC, Tomie 270 cams, rips intake ect. I think I might need to run alot of boost before that turbo is happy. I just hope she will hold the PSI and I won't try to blow the motor.

Hey guys

Just back from the dyno day ,had issues with fuel leaning out at higher rpm but was pretty impressed with what it made by 5300rpm will post graph

Roy ,its great to be driving it again feels awesome pulls like a train but its still a new engine it will get better as it beds in some more its got like 1600k's on it now so there lots of playing to go.On high boost what traction and high boost is 23psi

I'll try to answer your's and Johns q about the head work and its value at once .With the old bottom end I never had any trouble with high rpm's leaning out it could also be crank and bigger bore that helping this but alot more air flow will cause it to so the 1mm oversize valves and I spent a bit of time doing the ports again in my opinion has help with power but I think its helped more along the lines of torque its feels heaps better hills that i'd drop down a gear b4 now cruise over it top no trouble but more than that i think its reduced lag time a fair bit you'll see it in the dyno graph I got today as I didn't get one when I got it tuned 4got was to stocked with it toping 300rwkw

Butters

it would if I had 82mm pistons but mine are only 40thou oversize 79mm standard is 78mm

I'm thinking about doing a post on this rebuild with all information I have as took heaps of pic's during build but thats for a latter time his todays dyno graph

you can see where his backed of at 5300rpm here but here is where you can see where full boost has come in all the work I did with the flow honing has paid of and the head work has helped this as well usable power

the motor hasnt even had the rocker covers removed let alone aftermarket gasket/studd's :P

that is bullshit response! at 4200 you are making 250kw!!! awesome. Maybe i should turf my RB26 and whack in a 20?

i cant believe it thats f**king insane :) i think i almost should have stuck with my 20 now.. and poured as much money into it as i have my 26

    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
