Yeah Jack without the cams, and without spending hours checking every possible timing combination then your really not committed to the cause.

But anyways.... the rain has stopped and I seem to be feeling a lot better today. Lets see if I can't make the shit stop.

:(

I saw your engine yesterday Jack - was looking good. But still had a long way to go. I should get my car back today which I can't wait for. Was speaking to Benno and it seem's you should have about 20rwkw's more than me so it will be fun to see exactly how much difference that makes. On the track the extra lag you have shouldn't be an issue I don't think?

Andrew - you'd be surprised at the amount of lag you'll have now aswell!!! Both turbos are pretty much on par with each other in regards to lag, around 5k rpm full boost.... Cams should bring full boost on a little earlier.....

Well I started a thread last year about it but the answer is still inconclusive as yet. But basically the 32/33 gearbox has a 1:1 ratio in 4th. But the 34 box has its 1:1 in 5th. So I have an "extra" gear in there to play with. So it should be much easier to select a gear in a useable power range thus reducing the effects of lag.

But having said that I havent driven the car with 2nd gear in over 6 months so I may forget I've even got it come tomorrow night! LOL. And Im guessing the 2 hairpins will be 2nd gear corners. But initially I will be trying them in 3rd anyways as my main objective tomorrow night is to come home with a fully functioning car - including gearbox, engine and panels. So if it means a bit of extra lag then so be it. Im not yet ready to test my direct 5th-2nd gear changing skills. I can't afford to break the damn thing again.

Bad news team. I'm unable to tune out the high knock that has developed. I'm pretty sure a dirty load of fuel was the culprit and the fuel system needs attention so clean and new filter plus clean the injectors, so while I should be good to swing by and offer support, i have now withdrawn my entry. I'm not going to compromise a good engine for the sake of a single event.

The O2 sensor gave me an extra 300 rpm at idle for some reason but still have the knock up around 100-140

Now to get the goodies together and get a tune with the lot. Reground GTR cams, 440CC injectors and the Z32 AFM.

Anyone got an early GTR/R33GTSt hand controller they can lend me so I can have more of a play? Time to sort my laptop and get FC datalogit.

My house mate is having a party at my place but its probably to far out of the way for most of you. I'm in parkdale. Also ferni you can borrow the digi display if I can get it in time. If somebody has a laptop we could data log if somebody can get the program to work. Had it working the other day with a mates one on the home computer and a cable through the window.

I have a laptop and am bringing it to access the laptimes over wireless, your welcome to use it to log some data as well if you like

do you have the serial cable? what serial cable do you need? female to female 9pin?

Anyone from the S.E Suburbs want to meet up to cruise to this together this arvo? (mainly because i suck with directions and will probably get lost :) )

Anyone from the S.E Suburbs want to meet up to cruise to this together this arvo? (mainly because i suck with directions and will probably get lost :) )

its easy. Just get on the Calder Fwy and start driving until you see the Thunderdome. :)

I think it was a good day out, .....well this is coming from someone who didn't participate but we still enjoyed ourselves, especially watching Troy who got sideways on the 3rd and second to last corners a few times, Andrew with his 34 for obvious reasons, ferni who spun once or twice, and that guy in grey 32 with the RB26 who looked at one stage like he was going to run into the back of Rianto whilst braking for the 3rd to last corner- front left locked up it looked like :D....

I got heaps of photos but can't really be fu(ked putting them all up.... if any of you guys want a few just give me your email addy....

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
