/\ Cool. Which reminds me... obviously the standard airbox was no hurdle to achieving your 225awkw. You didn't need a pod (which I think is a defect in SA? -OT!) Just to stray OT a little how much boost are you running to achieve your incredible 225awkw with the nismo SMIC?

Nah mate, A SECURED Pod filter in SA is LEGAL :-) so just one of those metal brackets and your set.... As long as its not flapping in the breeze your all good!

Running 1 bar around 16psi with highflow (pipercross) filter in standard airbox.

BTW here is an excellent tech article on intercoolers from ARE (an Australian manufacturer) - they seem to really know their stuff on air/air, air/water and dry ice intercoolers!

Soooo I was wondering, the old "boost tee" turbo-smart style "boost bleed" valves, which at one stage could be had for like 30 bucks (but now are all around $80-90 on ebay wtf???) weren't they just a tap with a very fine range of adjustment? Or did they have something else fancy to them?

An example of the device I'm talking about (this is a new one off ebay so I don't know if it is different to the old ones).

...what do you think, cheap & very convenient way of adjusting vent size? Or not suitable?

i think you mean this Turbotech boost controller, i had one on my old stagea.

Hey awesome thanks - no pics there but that must be the one (dunno what these original guys look like!) I would grab one but I just got a brass needle valve on ebay and also I'm not sure if the turbosmart is just a "tap"/adjustable hole... several places people mention it has a spring and ball-bearing setup of some kind... makes me think it could vary the hole as the boost pressure changes... dunno?

Rob - that's some awesome info thanks for that! Also you're only running 1psi more than me and making about 40-50kw more than me :D Glad I can stick with the standard airbox though.

hi all,

i got a second hand Jaycar IEBC but didn't come with instructions/manual.

can anyone scan and flick me a copy?

it would be much appreciated.

cheers,

sam

I have them (in Auckland) Pm or email me your tel no or email. Did you get a hand controller with it?

Hi guys, great to see thsi thread has grown so much, 51 pages, that's a lot of cars with the kits. I'd like to finish Ben's IEBC, DFA and Controller but I need a copy of the instructions, I had at least 3 sets but they must have been chucked in the last big home office clean out. I have a book of course, but there are some instructions not shown in there that I need. Please if any one has a set of all 3 it would be greatly appreciated if you could scan them, email them, fax them, post them, whatever method is best for you. I'll cover the cost of whatever method you choose, just PM me for the details.

Thanks

Gary

Try ringing Jaycar - they should send you the right ones by mail or may have them as a download. If you have no luck I can scan mine and send them but its a big file and I have to break it down into three or four emails.

the one they had in the shop just had the extract from the performace electronics book (which i already had)

i just need the step by step instructions like i got with the hand controller

can someone help me out?

sent :P

thanks again mate

need some help for fitting of peak hold adaptor - i don't fully understand "how it works" part of the Jaycar kit instruction, I'm afraid..

i have R32 RB25DE+t with 440cc low impedance injectors (ex-7MGTE) which I take it to be peak hold.

Jaycar instructions say the 0.1 ohm 5W resistor needs to be spliced in between +12V feed to an injector and +V side of the injector plug.

Does it mean that the resisor need to be fitted before injector resistor pack? After resistor pack, it will see somewhat less than +12V (resistor pack for injector: 6 ohms & injector impedance: 3 ohms), no?

So far as I know those of us with Stageas do not have "peak hold " to deal with on our S1 or S2 RB25DET or neo engines. What makes you think you have to? Have you had to fit a special resistor pack for your replacement coils? Have you test fitted your IEBC?

Bob,

I haven't tested the IEBC yet but as far as I know 7MGTE 440 injectors are peak hold low impedance, just like gtr 440cc, hence the requirement for a resistor pack.

Cheers,

Sam

so i finally got it all together, tryed to test it out by just holding the +'ve and -'ve straight onto the battery and nothing happens :D

i've taken some pics of the board so if someone could look at it for me it would be awesome

thanks, Tom

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
