be interested in seeing opinions too.

atm i have a set of 18x8.5 rims going on the skyline and i am choosing between

Toyo Trampio TPG 245/40/18 all round

Nankang 245/40/18 all round

or Kumho Ecsta Supra 245/40/18 all round

I have always liked the Toyo brand but was told that the TPG's aren't good.

i have a friend who has Nankangs and says they are shit in the dry but good in the wet.

I have heard the Kumho's are quite crap.

all from people that don't stock the other tyres etc so be interested to hear from people that have had them already on there car.

all three are directional tyres which is why i am getting the same size all round, was going to get 265 at the back.

Nankang suck.

Kumho Ecsta Supra are apparently a AA grip rated tyre, but I hate them so much, I think they are just soft, not a good gripping tyre.

Then I have brigs GIIIs on the rear, they seem ok, they have worn better than the Kumos, and seem to grip ok once they have a bit of heat in them.

However Im not writing off the kumos yet, Im going to adjust the front suspension settings and see how I go from there, but first impressions (about 6-9months now) I dont like them.

I have Dunlop SP 9000's 255's at the rear, 235's at the front, $400 a corner

In the wet they are good, in the dry they are shit, the soft compound burns up so easily.

I use to have S03's, they are the best by far, but are $450 a corner

i have the Khumos on the rear of my car 255 40 17 and i got them new about 2 months or so ago and they are already wearing a fair bit ah. Ive been driving a fair bit and there wearing heaps quicker then they should be i rekon.

Ive heard the Toyos are good. Pretty expensive thuogh arnt they?

I used to have Nangkangs on my silvia and i didnt really like them that much. Wore pretty well but yer the grip was pretty good but not as good as others ive had

As a matter of curiosity are you guys over there allowed to run the likes of Michelin Pilot Sport Cups and Pirelli P-Zero Corsas on the road, legally? Over here in the UK we are, just wondering, your car mod laws seem a lot tougher over there... :D

As long as it doesn't say "For Racing Use Only" we are OK. Usual load and speed ratings apply of course.:D

The best tyre I've used on the street is the Falken Azenis ( Pure Sport not Silent Sport ). I say that with respect to the cost ( quite good if you shop around compared to the other DOT aproved rubber out there ) they don't wear out too fast if you treat em right and great all around grip in IMHO. You can get a lot worse and you can get better but bang for your buck..........AZENIS are my choice. My 2 cents. :D

Ill never buy anything but Falken RT215 Semislicks for the rear

since i got them in 245/45/17 along with whiteline handling kit and camber kit etc i have a really hard time loosing traction. Even in the rain they grip very well.

The wear is great, ive had them for about a year now and there is still heaps of tread left.

Awesome tyres, ide love to think how a GTR would handle with these on all corners.

and for $320 a tyre, definately the best

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
